What a wonderful stay that we had with Carol and Cyril.So welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I had two of the best nights sleep I've had in ages!Breakfast was so filling, didn't need to eat for the rest of the day :)We will be back Rick and Mum (Rita) x

Carol and Cyril are wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond to make my husband and I feel welcome, even leaving plant-based treats in the room as I mentioned I was vegan. The B&B is in a beautiful, peaceful location within easy driving or cycling distance to Brecon Beacons and nearby towns, and the rooms are incredibly comfy. We’d definitely love to stay again.

Very nice atmosphere

Arrived in the afternoon on a Saturday, bar was quite and was given a very warm welcome.  The bar area had a great selection, ready to sample later in the evening.

Shown to our rooms, initial reaction.... this looks fab.  Lots of space, plenty of storage, the attention to detail was perfect.  You couldn't have wanted for anything else.  Selection of teas and coffees, with fresh milk in your own fridge too.  

Headed to the court yard to have a drink, provided with the drinks and wine menu.  Lots of selection, something for everyone.  Very nice ambience, super staff too.

Showed before dinner, great water pressure, plentiful hot water, fluffy robes and towels.  Their toiletries were of a lovely quality too.  Windows opened wide, bird song whilst we relaxed.  

Dinner
WOW - I could write for every but personally I can recommend the spaghetti starter with the crab.  It was possibly the best starter I have ever eaten.  The flavours were sublime.   Portion size was large .......... only as I knew I was having every course :-).  I shared with my table and everyone agreed with me.
Breast of Lamb with vegetables.  Again the flavours were fantastic, rich and unctuous .  As expected vegetables were amazing too.
Dessert
Well obviously I didn't want to miss out.... luckily we all chose differently so we could have a taste.  There was no disappoinment.

Retired to the bar where 'Alex', looked after us all evening.  Following his wine recommendations, we knew he would ensure the rest of our evening drinks were equally as good.

We were honoured to have been able to speak with Stephen too.  What a great guy.

Summary
Very welcoming, excellent accommodation, wonderful staff, sensational food.  If you think 'I would like to go here', think no more and just book in.  We will be returning for sure.

Excellent in many ways, you will not be disappointed.

What a disappointment! The starter we had was far too salty. The beef was dry and tough. Although there were plenty of staff, our meals took so long to appear and when they did , for every course, two of us would get our meal and two wouldn’t for another hugely long time. So disjointed. 
The meal I had had a black hair in it! 
Please Hardwick can you also dry your knapkins before laying your tables. When we pointed out that the knapkin was wet we were told that’s because they have just been washed.
Not value for money and very bad service.

Poor meal and poor service. Definitely not value for money!

Firstly, they had no record of our booking despite asking me for a phone number and email address some 4 weeks ago.  Secondly the table tops were very sticky, not giving the impression of good hygiene, my glass actually stuck to the table.  Thirdly the Merthyr Pie main course was incredibly salty, to the point of being inedible, did not finish it.  I complained to the waiter who replied he wasn't the chef but would pass on the complaint.  On a positive note the soup starter and bakewell tart desert were OK. On the whole the visit for a birthday celebration was disappointing.  We had been a few years earlier but this did not live up to expectation. We were not surprised that there were only 4 covers in the restaurant in the 2 hours we were there   We are unlikely to visit again or recommend to others.

Lovely break

Stayed here for a mid week break the food & accommodation were great. It is located in a beautiful valley with stunning views.
The interior is styled on a hunting lodge with dark colours and wall mounting.
We had room 7 which was a great surprise, the size was a lot larger than expected and the decorations is light with nice views over the patio to the great view beyond. Great night sleep.
The staff are very friendly and appear to be new so hopefully the early reviews about staff problems have been overcome.
The food is great and there is a passion to local produce and producers.
For the mains my wife had the ribeye steak and she said it was one of the best she had ever had, I had the sea bass and it was great.
The breakfast was also great and it was nice to see Stephen in attendance.
The portions were airing on the generous size and may wife apologise for leaving some of the smoked salmon.
Would highly recommend the restaurant and rooms and will be back.

Great food & room

Returned to eat here a couple of times after a break of several years. It used to be a real "go to" place.
The setting and ambience remain wonderful - although rather cold, which I can just about excuse on a chilly evening with the current cost of heating an old stone building.
Service was good although food was somewhat over-priced (starters £15 plus) and of variable quality.
Overall, I felt things had slipped from a few years ago with equivalent food available for half the price at a number of local pubs.

Trading on past glories.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September as we were attending a wedding locally. The car park is big, with plenty of spaces.
We checked into Room 5 which was an accessible room. We didn't request an accessible room but this wasn't an issue. The room is quite large, with a comfortable bed dressed in good quality linen.
There is an array of teas and coffees, with a bottle each of still and sparkling water. No biscuits! A small bottle of milk had been provided in the mini fridge.
We ate in the restaurant on the first evening. The food was good  albeit the choice was limited. The staff were attentive and quite knowledgeable about the menu.
My husband was uncomfortable sitting on a bench for his meal, but we didn't complain about this.
The room was very hot, at 26° and was stuffy, with no window to open. Guests are asked not to change the thermostat so it was quite uncomfortable and sticky. There was a fan in the room but it was broken. 
Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of local produce and homemade preserves which were delicious. The breakfast staff were lovely, and very chatty.
Getting ready for the wedding was a real challenge with the temperature, so I requested an air conditioning unit. This was in situ by the time we got back to the room later that night, after returning from the wedding party.
There is no power point near a mirror so hairstyling was nigh on impossible, as was applying make up in very dim lighting. There are shutter blinds on the window but these do not work properly and afforded no privacy when opened. (As it was so hot we remained in our underwear for as long as possible)
The decor is pleasant in the room, but the carpet was very stained and needs renewing. The wardrobe is too small for the hangers so you have to leave the wardrobe doors open or risk creasing your clothes.
We would come back to the restaurant but we wouldn't stay here again, at £160 per night, we expected better.
