Thoroughly recommend you stay her. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Restaurant and food served was first class. Staff were helpful and friendly. Good value for money.

Perfect solo weekend away at The Griffin where the GM Ed was a warm and welcoming host.
Food great, view amazing and in the heart of the gorgeous Sussex countryside.
Room was clean and comfortable. Shower pressure excellent!
Ed makes the best Bloody Mary too.
Can’t wait to return 😎

Breath taking views from the gardens when you first arrive, then you walk inside and it’s like going back in time. Beautiful old pub just what you’re looking for when you have a weekend out of London. Ed the GM when above and beyond looking after us.

Great weekend

A beautiful cosy country pub with roaring fires, plenty of locals in a fantastic setting with views to die for and a wonderfully quaint village. The sizeable bedroom perfectly appointed, with a very comfortable bed and quality Chadder & Co. Roll top bath tub and Wc. I was a little disappointed to not have a shower and a tiny television with a CD player dangerously perched on top of the wardrobe, which fell down when opening the door hitting my girlfriend on the head…but no harm done! We would definitely return here, to see the gardens in the summer as they are well kept and the outside pizza oven look like fun. There was an unfortunate mix up with our dinner order and we waited over an hour, but we weren’t charged for our main course as a result and as we loved the pub so much we hadn’t missed its arrival….again no harm done, breakfast was first class although again it took a while to arrive, the staff were very friendly and helpful….might want to check the dates on the breakfast yogurts before they go out hence the not perfect score…but would recommend to friends for sure.

The hotel part was very tastefully fitted out with attention to detail and the comfiest bed 
The restaurant served delicious meals and breakfast was lovely too
The well stocked bar was most welcome and the staff could not do enough for you

Lovely place to stay

Lovely venue, the breakfast was good and such a pretty place.  But our room was a little dirty with quite a few cobwebs.  Floor not hoovered.  We were allowed an earl check in as stayed for a wedding, but thought the room was having a clean after we left for the wedding.  The main bits were done though.  I wouldn't not recommend, I would go back.  But it wasn't worth the £170 we paid though. 

Lovely place, room could have been cleaner and fresher

A return visit, but what a Difference 12 months made. Sadly looking very tired & in need of some refurbishment, particularly in the public areas. Food offer was much less impressive, and Monday breakfast was very underwhelming, main table was lacking milk, and pastries, fruit or water.
Check in and out was frustrating as staff couldn’t understand our request for room only charging (breakfast was included at £20+pp and we wanted smaller meal, not full English) . Bizarre, sitting at dinner for some time, next to reception who were discussing our bill with Manager. Sadly bill still incorrect on departure. Room not cleaned /tidied- we had a 2 night stay. We’d asked for a larger (more expensive) room which was v hot, no shower, and disappointing overall. Will not return.

Unimpressed, will not return.

Booking in was easy and the staff were very helpful and friendly,we were allocated the kenward room but we had paid for a delux room with four poster etc but were told there was no deluxe room available. We bought this up at check out and it appears that because we had booked with booking.com priority is given to people who book direct, that said the duty manager altered our bill accordingly. The only other issue is with the plumbing in that room it just doesn’t work properly..the 3 night stay with the Griffen was just fine the view from the garden is great. 

Birthday treat

Exceeded expectations. Quaint, comfortable & very relaxing. Beautiful garden & location. Warm & helpful staff. Great food. Excellent value for the money. Would definitely return. My only note might be that the room refreshments were a little scarce - no biscuits & only x2 teabags in the basket. Easily remedied on asking a member of staff as we were staying x2 nights.

Exceeded expectations 

We stayed at the Griifin Inn on a Sunday night as we had an early start on the Bluebell Line the following day. Check in was fine, even though the pub was still quite busy with Sunday lunches and the local cricket team. We stayed in the Kenward room, which was clean and spacious, one of the problems we found was that the pillows were very flat (well used) even using two pillows and the decorative cushions only just gave enough height/support, perhaps they should all be changed now. The second (big) problem was the bath, and hand held shower head, The hot water trickled out of the tap at very low pressure and when it was switched to shower it only dribbled out of the shower head, not good for that morning wash, it took about 30 mins to get enough water in the bath to have an adequate wash, but washing our hair was very difficult. I did report this to the duty manager and he reduced my bill by a third as compensation. But I would have thought this defect should have been noticed/reported by the cleaner when the room and bathroom were cleaned/prepared for our use.
We were quite disappointed with our evening meal, as the cost for a Sunday roast was £24, so I was expecting something readily special for that price but when it came it was just a standard roast dinner (albeit an over priced one), I think you really need to look at your menu prices, they are way over the top for a country pub. 
On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful.
