Arrived at 9 pm after a three and a half hour drive to find the place in complete darkness and closed up.  Phone number was unobtainable.  Booked through Agooda and had to contact Hong Kong to resolve.  It is currently being investigated, apparently.  Absolutely appalling to leave people stranded with nowhere to stay.

This hotel is closed, though I didn't find that out until I arrived having booked it through Agoda at the beginning of the week.  They even sent me an email during the week asking me to confirm my arrival.

Their website is still taking bookings and some booking agencies still have them on their searches, but it's definitely closed today, 4 August 2023. 

Closed (for good?)

A fantastic stay at Ferryhill Manor House. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Owners were really friendly even though they were very busy with personal stuff! The full English breakfast was very tasty too!! Thanks for supporting our charity.

They sent a text the day before the booking, after the free cancellation period had ended saying 'Hotel Closed', yet the website is still taking bookings.  Now trying to get money back from chatbots at Agoda.com booking site.  Looking at Companies House filing the Hotel went into liquidation on 25 Feb 2016 - not sure they are actually trading again.

Hotel Closed

Very angry; I would go as far as to say disgusted. Have  been left exhausted by a respiratory condition and currently without a car. I needed action in Ferryhil force specific purpose. I was on the phone all day in relation to this and then had other demands on my day. While traveling to the hotel I found two missed calls. On returning the call I got an extremely stroppy response and told that they close I'd no one comes in. Well I want onsee that in big good letters every time you advertise rooms etc. 'we go home at 6 if no onecomes in and we get very stroppy about it'.

Never again.

Brilliant place to stay. Staff are very welcoming. Food is great home-cooked good portion sizes. Beds and towels very clean. This is the 5th time we have stayed here and look forward to coming back very soon. Thank you Claire & Team for making us feel so welcome.

Fabulous

We booked this hotel as we were attending a party in spennymoor 
The building looked well worn, outside was piles of rubbish in the car park. The bar area looked scruffy. Lots of junk piled up under the stair. 
We stayed in room 1, very basic! Room could do with updating, a paint, black out blinds & curtains. The bathroom was dated as well, the shower was terrible 
Tbh it was somewhere just to put our head down for the night. 
We didn’t get a front door key, as you need to walk through the bar to get to the rooms, which was abit disappointing. 
We wouldn’t stay again but it served it’s purpose for 1 night

Nothing like the pictures..

I was booked this hotel for business. When I arrived the outside of the building was in need of repair. It looked like it needed some attention. Upon arrival I met a lovely person who took me to my room but the environment looked beyond tired and not how it is presented on any booking site. 
The room was bright and airy, but dusty and the shower would not work because the holder was broken. 
During the night, revellers were enjoying the evening, but as smokers, my room filled with smoke. The environment was so dark and dingy so I did not want to go down to the bar for a drink. The pub has a local reputation which is less than good. I was really disappointed in terms of what it cost.

You can't go wrong for £56 a night here. They were having a disco and karaoke night when we were there but we were just too tired out from driving to enjoy it, which was such a shame as there was plenty of laughter coming from the locals. And Garry was great, letting us have an Indian take away in the dining area👍

Journey break.

Visited on the 19th March 2022, been before for a meal with no problems but yesterday was a complete change.
The meal was ordered for 1pm, the starter came out at 1.30, the main course had not come out at 2pm ~nothing mentioned to us for the delays, so a severe lack of communications.

After the meal had been paid for, the members of the party were then informed of the reasons.
I can not fault the younger members of the staff that day, they were very apologetic, but to be honest the blame lies with the management for not informing us that the meal would be late.
