We came here back in August 2022. The accommodation is  nicely decorated and plenty of space.  Perfect for a quiet retreat on a working farm. Dogs are welcome too. Plenty of nice walks. Shops and places to eat within a close driving distance.   Take note though their is more than one Boreland farm in scotland

Lovely place to stay. Large bedroom and large shower room. Lovely and warm. Great facilities, plenty of dvds to watch, spotlessly clean. Friendly owners made us feel very welcome. Dogs welcome too. Highly recommended, decorated to a very high standard.

Went to stay whilst at a motorsport event. How I wish I was on holiday there. Stayed for 4 nights and was delighted with everything. Perfect accommodation, hosts lovely. Great shower and lovely bed! I could have stayed another week! Wish I had chance to walk round the area. Stunning views from the window. I really didn’t spend as much time as I would have liked due to commitments but I will definitely be returning. 

This is perfect accommodation as a base to explore what Galloway has to offer, which is a lot. The surroundings of Boreland Farm are peaceful and beautiful. The steading which houses the visitor accommodation is spacious and comfortable, perhaps excepting the small galley kitchen which is a bit wee, but the views through the window make up for that. It's a working farm but not a noisy one, though there are comings and goings. Due to its fairly remote location, it may be advisable to pack up all you need before setting out for the day. Roads in the vicinity are rough, so beware, and having a good sense of direction may not necessarily be of much help! But once off the very minor roads, you will find yourself able to access such a wide range of wonderful landscape - hills, rivers, lochs and sea - that the crunchy, narrow, pot-holey, poorly signposted roads are pretty much forgiven. Admittedly, I would not have wanted to negotiate them at night time, but that was fine as there is no need to venture out from this lovely cosy place if you have a stock of provisions. Whilst neat and tidy, it has no pretensions to be swanky, so expect a few cobwebs. A spray of the windows to remove the signs of previous doggy guests looking out would have been nice, and a new toilet seat is needed.

The welcome we received from the hosts was second to none. Philippa, Simon and family did everything to ensure that we enjoyed every moment of our stay. This countryside setting was totally calm, with this working farm set within the most beautiful scenery, with no through traffic. Despite this, there were plenty of relatively local places to eat. 
This little cottage looked like it had been recently renovated and it was impeccably clean and very functional. In addition to the large bedroom, there is a spacious lounge, kitchen, bathroom and entrance area.
From within the farm itself, beautiful country walks were possible, offering spectacular view across towards the Lake District. Opening the curtains in the morning and seeing sheep grazing a few yards away was such a welcome break from city life! Ducklings and hens wandering across the farmyard were the norm and added to the uniquely rural experience. We had an excellent view of red kite birds of prey flying over the property and even spotted a hare. For these and other reasons, I would recommend staying for at least three nights. With work the following day, we regretfully had to return home, although we would have preferred to extend our visit.
We are really looking forward to our next visit and we shall also be strongly recommending this farm stay to friends who have children.

Absolutely in the middle of nowhere, just perfect. Converted outbuilding becomes a large family room, with good bathroom and all the usual trimmings. The local guide books, to Dumfries and Galloway, were very handy. Lovely breakfast in the farmhouse kitchen. Do go for a walk up the hill, to where the views are stunning, the wildflowers lovely and the birdsong a complete joy.

Beautiful farmhouse, clean and spacious rooms off the main track. If you want to fully experience regional Scotland then this is for you. Hosts friendly and casual and Simon made the best breakfast we have had in Scotland!!

Great place to stay. Beautiful scenery and friendly hosts. We both love it! So do our dogs! There is always plenty to do, if interested in historical places, wildlife, birds and many other super places which Simon and Philippa will advice.

Friendly hosts, spacious rooms, good facilities, great breakfast (with haggis!) and nice views. A good place to come away and find some peace. As it is a working farm there are some animals about, which we enjoyed.

While Boreland Farm is not far from Moniaive, Dunscore and several other towns, you'll feel like you are in another world in the peaceful rural setting. The owners are friendly, accommodating and helpful. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing.  I wish that we had more time to explore the property to enjoy the beautiful countryside.
