We was on a National holiday weekend break and did not know where we was staying and my heart sank when i got email with details and saw it was a Britannia hotel but we was pleasantly surprised. Our  room was clean and tidy, food was ok and my partner who is Gluten free was catered for. I have deducted 1 star as feel it the rooms and corridors could do with a lick of paint. The check in was  straightforward and no hassle. 

National holiday weekend

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel  with Caledonian Holidays, on arrival my heart sank at the drab grey and dirty looking exterior, on entering the inside the hotel is very different, clean and spotless. Checking in was very fast and we  where allocated room 411 on floor 4,3 very fast lifts where never busy and the corridors looked to have new carpets and the nice smell on fresh paint. Room 411 is very spacious overlooking the bus station with a very comfy double bed, flat screen tv on the wall and new looking furniture apart from the wardrobe, the carpets and bathroom floor coverings looked nearly new and the above bath shower had constant hot water.
The bar area was clean and looked to have had a recent makeover, beer prices where a bit steep for our Yorkshire pockets but the 2 for 1 bar until 9pm helped, bar staff very hard working and friendly
The restaurant was well organised and the food selection was very good, food hot and well presented all served buffet style with the staff very hard working. The hotel is well placed for all the local amenities but please think twice about leaving the hotel after dark !!!
Overall a well presented and well organised hotel, very clean with helpful staff we would use this hotel again in the future.

Surprisingly good Hotel

Part of a coach trip, heart sank when we pulled up the outside is terrible.

Pleasantly surprised at reception and other communal areas, yes a bit dated, but it was fine for a budget break.

Our room had an awful view of rear shops loads of refuse bins, full to the brim, but that's not the hotels fault.

Our room must of had a bit of a makeover, fresh paint, new carpets and nets. But it was beautifully clean and towels and crisp white bedding. 

Breakfast buffet style, piping hot food, cereals, fruit, toast, decent quality too. Our evening meals were OK, typical budget holiday food, but it was hot, edible and ok for a few days.

The location is the best thing about the hotel, right in the heart of Coventry, a few minutes walk to the shops, pubs, resteraunts and cathedral.

It's worth a stay if your on a budget, perfectly serviceable and clean.

Not as bad as I was expecting after reading other reviews 

Ideal for a few nights to explore area. Could probably do with a makeover but that would raise the price. Ideal place to stay.

Great stay

Curtains were not long enough to cover window so when the sun came up the room was lit up. Dirty socks left under a bed. Stains on carpet. Constant noise from lifts. Room needs lots of TLC. Bathroom was not up to par. Staff were okay but ignorant and dismissive when checking in. Slept well.

Hotel refused check in and entry to room for being 17 and refused refund too.  Said there was an over 18 rule but did not ask date of birth when booked and paid for room online. Left 3 young boys far from home vulnerable for the night.

Having stayed here twice before on coach holidays and not having very good experiences before - I was happy with the latest stay we had which was also with a coach company.
Our room looked like it had a new carpet, new white net curtain, and new curtains.  The bathroom is very dated along with the rest of the hotel.
The included evening meal, and 2 breakfasts were fine - self service.
The hotel is well placed for access to the city centre.

Better than I expected!

The didn’t work only one plug socket worked.Staff shouting at each other in reception and restaurant the next morning. Talking about the basement flooding.

Not again

Turned up, gave my mates reserved room away as "they had a load of coaches turn up". It was RESERVED. Enquired about it and they got aggressive and asked me to leave. Would not rate. Full of incompetent aggresive "hospitality" staff. Stinks of mould too.

Good location. As I arrived early I was allowed to check in at 2.30 pm. Probably should have read when I made the booking but I did not realise WiFi was not free! Not everyone requires 24 hours so I thought £7 was a bit excessive.
