Very unhappy with our stay! Be warned hotel rooms may have a window which opens onto the neighbours balcony, they can easily climb in if they wanted! Very dangerous when you have a child who is staying there. Also I could hear everything from the neighbour, there talking, moving around and even pulling of toliet roll from the holder. And the window when shut made a lot of racket with the wind. Worst night sleep I’ve had in a very long time, windows didn’t lock and it was a very hot humid night but I had to shut window for safety as the neighbour was on the balcony right in front of the window and to get the window to open it had to be opened fully otherwise it wouldn’t stay open. Noway could I sleep knowing someone could easily enter my room with a child in bed! I have complained and been offered a free nights stay.... I have no reason to go to the area again so the stay is not needed! Nothing else has been offered. Very unhappy.  I never ever leave reviews even for awful things but I had to for this as I’m shocked it’s allowed. Hotel not recommended esp for family’s. Rooms should have windows that can be locked and can be opened without the worry of someone being able to jump through window. Hotels reply on another review was I could of shut the window.... I did! And instead we were boiling! They also stated there was a hotel porter... I couldn’t leave my daughter alone to hunt for the hotel porter early hours of the morning!

We came here as a (hen) party of 12 and were pleasantly surprised for the price we paid. Staff were there to greet us & were very helpful. The rooms were spacious & clean. The only issue being the code system was a bit of a pain but otherwise - a great stay!

I booked here to stay 21/07/2018 for 1 night with my Husband and 13yr old, first impressions was omg what have I done? Above a busy Turkish restaurant with no parking yet booking.com says there is on site private parking there was no way a descent size car was going around the back. The only available spaces were across the road in a health centres car park which stipulated NO PARKING only patients. On entry we were greeted by a woman whom sat on a chair at the bottom of the stairs NO CARD facilities so cash only. No actual reception desk, lots of stairs to climb and as I had crutches was extremely difficult, we were taken through a corridor upstairs to room 8 the smell was just awful can’t describe it but a nursing home smells better. The room was very dated with chocolate brown gloss painted doors and frames, the carpet was disgusting with stains from one end to another. The wardrobe door was hanging off we tried to put it back on with no success  the bathroom was so small to get in the bath we had to leave the door open and the shower screen open. The sink was in the bedroom and tucked in the corner was a shelf with tea/coffee behind the fridge/freezer but if a tight squeeze and to use the kettle you had to unplug the fridge. Even though the sheets were clean the covers had stains on. We were told that as the room was at the back of the property it was one of the quietest rooms but as the temperature was high we had to open the windows as no fans in the room which ended up being the worst nights sleep I’ve had due to the noise of the heavy traffic but up until 2am bikers and cars would rally up and down the side of the hotel and wheel spin in the health centre car park. The person whom let us in the room was only there for about half hour showing guests in then left so you fend for yourself. I think £50 was too much for a room of this condition, I’ve seen photos of other rooms and they looked 95% better than the one we had. I’ve seen hostels better equipped so the owners really need to strip all the rooms and get rid of the disgusting carpets,curtains and gloss paint to up grade it to a fresher modern look

NEVER AGAIN

When we booked the hotel it was the cheapest available only costing £140 for 2 nights for 4 of us as we were watching ed sheeran at st james park, so every where else was booked or too expensive.
It is a no frills, cheap hotel which is okay for a couple of nights, but I don’t think I would want to stay much longer then that.
There is an awful lot of stairs and no lift which was okay for us as were were young and fit (ish) but for others may be a problem. 
We did have a problem with the shower one morning but it was fixed quickly by the friendly lady there. 
We also could not use the WiFi but couldn’t find anyone to talk to so didn’t bother, hotel isn’t staffed at all times that we could see. 
If you are looking at a cheap hotel for a couple of nights, this is a nice hotel. 

Average but cheao

Cannot fault this place. Absolutely amazed by the value for money we got with this hotel. We stayed for Ed Sheeran concert at st James park. All the hotels actually in Newcastle were over priced, probably due to ed being in town.  So I was delighted when I came across this little gem for £50 for the 3 of us girls. 

I was a bit scared also because it was 5 miles from the centre of town but it was actually better. It was so easy to find after driving from Scotland. The bus stop right outside the hotel takes u straight into town. We actually were lucky enough to catch the last bus back aswell. It was spotlessly clean and smelled lovely from entering to leaving. There was no breakfast unfortunately but Morrison’s is 2 mins along the street. There was tea/coffee in the room and also a fridge. Beds were really comfy and there is supposed to be parking round the back of the hotel it looked very tight and didn’t seem to be much room to park either. We parked in the doctors surgery across the road, didn’t get a ticket although there are signs up saying not to. The doors are all keypad locks aswell which is great as there are no keys to lose.

Only slight negative I have is the amount of stairs. Was fine for us because we are fit enough. But it would not be good for anyone who struggles with stairs, there are no ground floor rooms or lifts. But like I said this was not an issue for us and we didn’t mind them at all. 

I would book here again without a doubt as it was perfect for our needs. If it’s luxury your after I’d try elsewhere but if ur happy with a clean, tidy, easy to find, easy on the pocket hotel this will do the job.
