Had to make a quick trip to Carlisle and couldn’t have spent a more comfortable and welcoming night.

Lovely B&B with welcoming hosts, clean and modern rooms and a delicious full English breakfast.

I would definitely recommend Cornerways as a place to stay. It’s a beautiful house, perfectly located for a 2 minute walk to shops, bars, read and Carlisle station.

My company booked a room for me as a stopover on a Scotland trip.  I realised I was going to be late arriving (approx 10.15) so called the landline number I had, explaining my situation and left my mobile number. I did not have the T&Cs but I do now, as they were taped to the locked front door on my arrival! I rang the bell and knocked but nothing. 

I do a lot of travelling and have never been refused access to accommodation. I’m taken a back by the poor customer support and lack of empathy after a long day of meetings and driving, I did not expect this poor service.

Didn’t get in! Make sure you read the small print!

Terrible.  
Adele, the host, is a loose cannon.  She was fine with other guests (I asked) but when we checked in she really upset me.  She asked me to name any owls I knew.  I started listing barn owl, tawny owl etc and she suddenly shouted in my face TEATOWEL!!  It really shocked and upset me, which she could see.  This was at the end of a long day walking Hadrian's Wall, I was tired and had said I needed the loo but she told this supposed "joke" and it completely threw me.  I didn't know what to make of someone who did this to a guest.  She apologised and "explained" that she was used to shouting across the boxing gym, but I was very shocked and upset.
There is CCTV around the public areas, too, which strikes me as weird.  
I've since seen other reviews where others have had a bad experience with her when arriving.  Whenever people have made any critical comments in their reviews she has layed into them in her response with comments like "you must have an active imagination as this never happened, it's all on CCTV". So I fully expect she will do similar for my review.  I hesitated before sending this review because I don't like that kind of unpleasantness directed at me, but I thought people should know.
Please be warned, 90% of the time she may be fine but I had a terrible experience, I would never stay there again and would strongly recommend you find somewhere else

Would highly recommend  this place.   Amazing host.      Spotless place everything you need is they.     Such amazing friendly couple.   Couldn’t ask for more . So helpful cheerful happy go lucky.    Bed room immaculate. .     Just the place to stay as so so friendly.   Be back soon. Thank you for everything.   😃

Highly recommend

We only spent one night at Cornerways. It is within walking distance of the town centre and a parking permit is provided on arrival. There is plenty of on street parking near the guest house. The building looks Victorian and has been decorated by Adele and her husband in keeping with that era. Our room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. The bed was firm but comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep.  There was a little en suite shower room which had been fitted retrospectively in the corner of the very large Victorian bedroom. The en suite was very clean. The shower was fine but not very powerful. A cooked breakfast has to be pre-ordered but that means no wait in the morning. Adele was very friendly and welcoming and I thought that the cost was very reasonable. I would recommend this guest house if staying in the area and you want something different from the usual chain hotels.

Clean and comfortable

Excellent location for the City with parking around the area. Adela is a friendly, warm host who runs a great B & B. My room was very clean, comfortable and the shower was powerful. Excellent breakfast choice and very tasty too. Highly recommended.
