This lovely pub is a terrific find. I hesitate to review it in case it should be booked up for my next visit... The location is perfect: within a 10-15 min drive of the coast and stunning Valley of the Rocks, and on the edge of Exmoor. The rooms are elegant, beds comfy, with huge bathrooms - the pics don't do the rooms justice. But the real standout is the food - cooked by the delightful host Nicki - local produce and fish imaginatively cooked - venison stroganoff was my top meal. And breakfast was great too, lots of choice from local sausages and bacon to die for, smoked salmon, plus fresh berries and yoghurt. All this for £85 a night B&B! Highly recommended.

Amazing food and a warm welcome in a great location

We were en route to Lynton on Good Friday and were thirsty so pulled off the main road down to Parracombe and found the Fox & Goose. We had a friendly greeting and a quick drink soon turned into lunch. Absolutely delicious-I would highly recommend the hake “Al fredo”. Lovely fresh food cooked in an interesting & definitely tasty way.  Hope to be back soon

We fell on our feet here

Warm and friendly welcome even though we arrived before they were open. Superb menu of local produce. The bouillabaisse was excellent as was the venison stroganoff.
The staff made special arrangements for us to have a corner table so that our German Shepherd was out of the way.
Thank you to the entire team for a lovely evening.

Best food in the area!

Visited for lunch and had a wonderful meal of cauliflower cheese, a simple dish but wow, they made this very special! Huge portion and piping hot! Totally yummy.
Menu was varied and different from the usual run of the mill fayre.
A lovely welcome from Nikki and her staff too in this charming inn in a charming unspoilt village.
Would highly recommend and not hesitate to visit again and again

What a find, we booked a last minute booking to break up our trip to Cornwall, we really fell on our feet with the fox and goose, accommodation was perfect and food excellent, it is a shame that the current owners are selling we only hope that the new owners keep to the same standard.

Stayed locally, The Spinney Barnstable, who recommended us to eat here, couldn't have done better!  Fresh local food, cooked wonderfully, vegetables and desserts were a real treat, choice from the blackboard wall was wonderfully varied and cooked to perfection! Fish, game, pie, steaks & several veggie options.

Wonderful food, friendly local atmosphere, well recomended.

All courses my partner and I had were absolutely delicious. A really good collection and range of dishes including a fantastic selection of fish and seafood as well as game.  Choosing was really difficult because almost every dish appealed. The bouillabaisse was really tasty and well balanced and the raspberry posset really finished off what was a superb meal.  We will definitely be back!

Really exceptional food

Found purely by luck during a Google maps search, but what a find it turned out to be. Last night, we ate the best food we’ve ever had in a pub. In fact the quality of our dishes ranks above or at the very least equal to some of the best restaurants we’ve visited. What an amazing suprise. My complements to the chef and staff for a great meal and a lovely atmosphere. To top it all, it was dog friendly too, couldn’t think of a better way to end our holiday.

Awesome Food

Outside reveals nothing of the experience you have on the inside. A warm welcome from Nikki awaits as you enter the stylish and comfortable interior. We were taken up to our room at the back of the property where we settled in and took in the view of green slopes and village properties.

The calming colour palette used in the decor and furniture is high end and unfussy giving a luxurious feel. The bed is large with high quality bedding and very comfortable as we found out later. A really good selection of hot drinks is on the hospitality tray along with fresh milk in a flask and divine home made flapjack and shortbread.

The bathroom has a huge walk in shower with rain shower head and a good selection of quality toiletries. Again, the decor is stylish and everything in the rooms is absolutely spotless. We liked the fluffy towels and dressing gowns and especially the under floor heating.

The bar area is homely with chunky tables and upholstered chairs around them. There is a good selection of wines, beers and spirits as well as hot or soft drinks. Service is friendly and efficient. The menu for dinner is up on a blackboard which I found a little awkward to see properly but we managed. There is plenty of choice with as much locally sourced produce as possible. We ate on the three nights we stayed and were never disappointed. Beautifully cooked and presented with good sized portions. Actually we’d say the food was exceptional. It’s obviously why the place is fully booked a lot of the time.

Nikki, our landlady, and her staff, work really hard and their efforts clearly pay off. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and heartily recommend The Fox and Goose.

A Perfect Place

We booked a table today for lunch and had a wonderful Skate Wing each sitting on a bed of green vegetables cooked to perfection. We were so impressed I thought I would put a post on here. I think they may have been busy in the lockdown decorating the restaurant which looks very nice. (not that it looked bad before) Its a pub and B and B tucked in the small vilage of Parracombe in Exmoor. Really worth a visit.
