Rang me at 11am on the day of my booking to cancel. Told me that it was Ok, I wouldn’t be charged a cancellation fee! Said the refund would take 7-14 days. I said I needed the money immediately as I would need to book alternative accommodation (which they couldn’t offer) and they couldn’t help.

Last minute cancellation by hotel and refund takes 2 weeks

Avoid if possible.  Reception is unmanned. You phone a number, 2 Indian guys arrived.. They were unhelpful and unreasonable. They would not let me check in and said the booking was cancelled. Which it was not. Very unprofessional and left me high and dry. Had to drive a fair bit to get into another hotel - not good when you are exhausted.

damp walls, holes in roof, broken dirty shower, broken plug sockets. smell was horrendous.

My first mistake what to not check the feedback that other people left recently and trust the star-rate which is obviously wrong. I'm surprised some of the excellent comments refers to the staff when I only saw one at the time of the check-in and never saw anybody again for the rest of my 4 nights stay. I cannot say he was rude, because he wasn't, but he was definitely not friendly. When I opened the room it stank, like pipe smell, I decided to stay because it was paid already and my day was already too long to start looking for another accommodation. Room was fair, I guess not up to a 3-star hotel: the floor was broken and hurt myself a couple of times, no curtain on the shower that by the way, although it had hot water, it was a real challenge to wash a long here there because pressure was inexistant, no shampoo or gel if you wonder and only one towel to dry your body, hands and put on the floor to avoid slippery floor after shower. In the contrary, the toilet had too much pressure and you had to close the lid before flushing, otherwise you would end up with 'everything everywhere'. The room had a window that faces the square inside and since it was people walking near, I had to have the blackouts all the time, but the door comes with a window that cannot be covered, so if you are not careful, you will end up giving an underrated and free of charge 'only fans' service while changing my clothes. Agree with the woman that says she didn't feel safe there, I didn't either.

Very poor

I couldn’t check in, this isn’t a hotel. As a single female the room, was ok, not food or beverages we sold on site, I was going to be the only guest, the manager was dressed as if he was going to the gym. I didn’t feel safe, even after checking the room, The room was tatty, not welcoming. I rearly don’t feel safe and this place was one occasion when I just didn’t feel safe.

Uncomfortable

This hotel will take your money and when you arrive will turn you away and say there is is no availability. It was 8pm my colleagues arrived on two separate bookings and different times of arrival and both were turned down and had to find alternative accomodation at that time of night. Disgraceful. They should not be part of Hotel com, it's not good for their reputation!

Rubbish hotel that doesn't give a damn

I stayed here for two nights. The first night I was tired and had already showered so didn't notice quite how bad the room and bathroom were until the second evening after I'd been at work all day, otherwise I'd have scarpered! On arrival I found someone else's used and almost empty beard shampoo and puppy shampoo(!!) bottles in the bathroom. There was a sign stating a bath mat must be used (presumably for safety as the floor was tiled and there's a deep step from the shower) but there wasn't one, and I was told they're all in the laundry. The next morning I found a couple of ants crawling on my bed and across the floor, swathes of long dog hair on the floor and saw that the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Then to top it all, on the last morning I discovered 2 used sanitary towels lying face up in the bathroom cupboard. Who would even do this?!! And why were the cupboards and drawers not checked as part of 'housekeeping' as stated is part of the service on the website? The bathroom was cold with only an emergency light, and there was no hot water from either the shower or the tap. Since I had showered elsewhere the evening I arrived I didn't know about the shower until the morning I was leaving. Conversely the heater was effective (hot) but couldn't be turned down as the controls were locked and a timer on and I woke in the night feeling so hot that I had to unplug it altogether, after which it was too cold and I ended up wearing a jumper and socks in bed. The main room decor was tired but relatively tidy though there were stains on the walls and the ant / dog hair / heater issues. The photos showed a desk in the rooms but disappointingly my room didn't have one - I acknowledge hotels advertise their best rooms - but I had work to do so I sat on the bed with it instead. I wish I'd read and heeded the reviews on here before I booked but it was very last minute after having my expected accommodation cancelled. Even the car park was in a state and I know now I should have driven straight out of it again! 
Good bits - really friendly and polite staff member though who was attentive when I called on the number given on arrival (although he didn't respond when I made contact on leaving). There was a new looking kettle and I was provided tea, coffee, milk and a mug when I arrived. Nice big TV with Netflix etc, no terrestrial channels. Bed linen was clean although the mattress sunk at the head end - nothing that two pillows couldn't fix. 

Regretting staying here. 

Heater jammed on,  room was a sweat box.  Flooring has lifted due to damp. Shower was cold. When water was run to see if it would get hot i noticed that the shower tray had been installed at such an angle that it overflowed.  Bathroom and bedroom flooded - hence lifted flooring that creaked when you walked on it. No spoon for tea making. TV didn't work as no aerial conected.Lights outside room on all night shone brightly through flimsy curtain. Got very little sleep and got up dehydrated and shattered.

It is basic, which is what you would expect for the price. Unfortunately we did have to move room as the bed had not been changed however the room that we moved into was very clean. (This may have been due to early check-in however we did notify them ahead of time). It is directly off the motorway so there are no pubs/restaurants nearby (apart from one across the motorway, if you want to risk it on foot). Two villages, 10 and 20 min drive away which have lots of choice but not ideal if driving and wanting a drink. The man who checked us in was lovely and very polite. Would be higher rating if not having to change rooms. It is a drafty room, but the electrical heaters soon warm you up. Only thing i would say is treat it like you’re in a caravan/lodge as food/drinks etc, not close by and no breakfast. Defo only a one or two night stay whilst heading up/down country, not ideal for a getaway.

Basic

Me and my partner had a great 2 night stay, surprisingly quiet considering it's close to the A1 slept really well wasn't woken up by the traffic atal.
Really friendly hotel manager offered to carry our bags to our room. The room was clean and cosy, modern bathroom with a lovely walk in rain head shower, bed very comfy. 
All rooms are situated around a very pretty courtyard all with there own front door.
