We had the most wonderful week at this guesthouse! The owners were incredibly kind and attentive, making sure we felt completely at home and had everything we needed. The place itself was a peaceful oasis, perfect for unwinding and enjoying the tranquility of nature.

If you’re looking for a serene retreat in a home stay with the beach nearby, this is the place to be. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to return!

A Perfect Peaceful Getaway by the Beach

If you’re searching for an authentic and heartwarming experience, look no further than Nala’s homestay. From the moment I arrived, Nala and his family welcomed me with open arms, making me feel like part of their family. I stayed here for three unforgettable nights, each day filled with genuine hospitality and kindness. The room was spotless and equipped with air conditioning—a perfect retreat after warm days of exploring. Situated in a quieter neighborhood, the homestay offers a peaceful escape from the usual bustle.

The only “loud” visitors you might hear are the occasional monkeys or peacocks, adding a touch of nature’s charm. If you’re a light sleeper, just come prepared with earplugs and perhaps a sleeping mask, and you’ll sleep soundly. For anyone eager to connect with the local culture and experience the true essence of this beautiful place, Nala’s homestay is a gem worth visiting. 🥰

Felt like home away from home

Nala picked us up from the train showed us around  his beautiful home town of Weligama. A fabulous surfing paradise- highly recommend visiting. 
In the afternoon we were welcomed to Nalaka relaxing home for dinner homemade by his wife which was delicious. For an authentic visit to a family home and a guide (Nala) you can trust and depend on I can recommend reaching out.

Family Home Visit & Excellent Tour Guide

We visited Nala and family for an authentic Sri Lankan lunch experience.  A very warm welcome, with a very delicious lunch. We did not stay overnight as we had alternative arrangements already, but saw the rooms which are comfortable and clean. Recommended as a nice place to stay affordable, if passing through the area and excellent hospitality. The area is beautiful and excellent surfing near by.

A warm Sri Lankan family welcome

I stayed for many days at Nalaka relaxing home and this was just perfect. 
When I came back from surfing, the host would always offer me a tea or a juice. 
They are amazing and you will be really well hosted there ! 
Highly recommend :) 
Nala the host is also a travel guide, so he can help people to organise tour around the country. 


Amazing stay with amazing and kind people

My and my son stayed at Nalaka Relaxing Homestay in our recent surfing trip. Nala really welcomed us - not just as guests but into his home as part of his family. Daily cups of tea meant that we got to know Nala, his wife and his beautiful kids too. We left knowing so much more about Sri Lanka as a country but also what it’s like to live as a Sri Lankan person. Nala is kind, generous, charming and has a good soul.  I highly recommend staying with Nala if you can.

On the way of our trip met an amazing family with a big heart! Their house has become our home! Their hospitality and stream of friendliness was infinite. Their kindness and interest in people fascinates. So much local dishes we have not yet been proud ... Cooked with soul and love! The place is very cozy, it raises for recreation and creative ideas. Who is looking for peace, chat, clean cozy room, delicious homemade food ... then! You here !!!

I was so privileged to have stayed at Nalaka Relaxing Homestay in my recent surfing trip. I was travelling alone and Nala and his family really welcomed me into his home as part of his family. Nala was so generous sharing all his meals with me and kept me company while enlightening me into the teachings of Buddha. This is a place where you come as a guest and leave as a friend. I highly recommend Nala. 

Authentic Sri Lankan homestay

I stayed here for a week whilst surfing in Weligama. Nala and his family were the most generous hosts, both with his friendship and hospitality. I've had my room cleaned daily, his wife made me lunch to share with his family and endless tea/juice. The room is really nicely presented and has a small tea and coffee station. His home is known as 'The Tree House' as its built around the original trees, its a very cool feature and reflects Nalas love and respect for nature and the environment. Every morning around 20 (friendly) monkeys sit in his mango tree, theres also an iguna who lives on his land and a beautiful view of the canopy.

Jungle Beach (in the photos) is a short walk away and the house is on the outskirts of Weligama (1km walk or a 0.9$ bus). I couldn't recommend staying here more if you would like an authentic and sustainable trip where you can make a friend for life and learn about the real Sri Lanka.

If you want to get to know the real Sri Lanka and it’s lovely people, stay in one of Nalas Rooms. 
The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
The house is near Jungle Beach as well.
I was part of a Surf Camp and had my sleep over at Nalas.
