It's a nice place very close to the center.  We stayed for 2 days to visit Horton Plains. There was plenty of meal for dinner and breakfast, it was delicious, fruits, especially mangoes were very sweet. Rooms had thick blankets and hot water. The cottage is well designed and decorated, creating the feeling of a sweet home.  The owner recommended us a good driver. We liked everything!

Sweet Home

After having two nights  in  very depressing rooms we really landed on our feet at Havelock cottage.The staff led by caretaker Ms Rosemary provided a  very cosy , caring atmosphere - very clean, hot water available , replete with wood fire in the evening . 

The shower stalls are very small and an obese person may have issues fitting in . 
The meals are very substantial both Western and Eastern cuisine is available. They also provide substantial lunch packs as we had to leave early to work.

Comfort on a work related budget

We stayed in havelock cottage on december with some Friends 
We Lady owner of The House was really Nice And She offered any confort We needed.
Near The city Center And sorrounded by a beautiful garden. 
I would reccommend It And would stay there   again 


Wonderful House with Wonderful owner

We really enjoyed our overnight stay here. The lady was so friendly and our room was a good size with a view towards Mt Pedro (English version of name) the highest point in Sri Lanka. Large bathroom  with a good shower.The temperatures are a lot cooler up here as the elevation is over 1800 metres. More flowers grow in this region because of the cooler temps.From here our driver took us to catch the train about 8 ks away for a very scenic 3  hour train ride to Ella.

At the photo and in reality that place looks great from the front... The fact was that we had a very small room. We came back wet from the trek and it wasn't easy to find a place where to hang our wet clothes. Breakfast was also very basic. Maybe other rooms are better but all were full. The good side was the our window looked toward the flowers in the garden. The location: is in town but not too close for walking to the center but it's possible.

OK but not more

We stayed there for two nights and in general we are very happy. The place is clean, however our room was a bit small. The bathroom provided us with a showers with a real water pressure, which is rare in Sri Lanka. The decor of the room is a bit of granny style, but you don't really spend much time there anyways. A nice touch is a fireplace, which was on in the evening, so you can get cozy in the common space
The biggest drawback though is the most horrible breakfast EVER! Two paper like, very lightly toasted slices of bread, cheap, artificial and small cup of something that wants to be yoghurt, funny weird sausages served almost cold and - the best - a pod of jam: melon jam with strawberry flavour! It is such a joke given the fact that Nuwara Eliya boasts of growing their own strawberries... so, no Sri Lankan food at all, and a total fail in trying to serve something like a continental breakfast. Service was so slow, that everything got cold. Another thing was a fruit platter which was a total contradiction of the generosity that we experienced in any other place in the island. To give you an example: one slice of mango, two small pieces of watermelon and pineapple that looked like they had been cut and kept in the fridge before and to top that we were given two SLICES of banana each... this is really, really sad... it is so bad, that such a horrible breakfast can ruin my opinion of this place. It would be a nice stay, but I mostly remember this.
Also, the internet is non existing in the rooms!
