The hotel is located just in the city center behind the grand hotel. All restaurants and city center are easily accessible on foot. It is a good value for money. Very simple hotel. We got a small room for 3 people with a very small but clean washroom. Hot water was available. The staff is really good and helped us in arranging our tours to Horton Plains and giving us info about other places to visit.

Great Location

Clouds meadow inn provides some beautiful views, including being surrounded by allotments growing an array of vegetables. 

The checking in system seems very archaic which caused some confusion as we stayed 31st July and 1st August - two separate months I.e separate manual spreadsheets that couldn't originally be located.

The room was very basic, however, it was clean - which is the main thing! 

Shower was hot, however, there was no wall mount, proving a bit tricky at times. 

Nuwara Elya was colder than we originally envisaged, but, the hosts were very cooperative and provided us with extra blankets which was a nice touch. They also were able to loan us a plug converter as there was no UK outlet in our room.

The breakfast consisted of a batch of toast with butter and orange jam, plate of fruit (papaya,pineapple,watermelon and banana) and also a perfectly made fried egg - runny centre, yum! All this was met with shy smiles and a choice of tea/coffee.

It must be said that the hosts were lovely and that previous reviews loan the idea that it isn't a hospitable place, I believe a lot of this is down to a language barrier. There was an instance where an American 'gentlemen' boomed over the elderly hosts stating that his invoice was incorrect... It came to light that it was indeed correct but, alas, it showed the professional demeanour of the hosts, keeping calm and explaining the situation politely. 

Also, the hosts brother has a tuc tuc and proved to be a lovely competively priced tour guide taking us to some surprisingly interesting tea plantations alongside the waterfalls. He also made a pitstop at various areas for some perfect photo opportunities - definitely recommend.

You get what you pay for and it is definitely worth it! If you want something more 5 star then stay at The Grand Hotel which is situated opposite Clouds Meadow.
