Located on a quiet side of Ella and is very accessible to Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arches Bridge. Around 12 mins walk to the centre of the town but you can always get a tuktuk too. Superb location. The property is located on top so you’ll need to climb a handful of steps but not a problem if you’re active. Naranji, our host, was very nice to us. I can feel that she indeed has a good heart. She and her husband helped us book a car to Galle, thank you so much for that. They’re an amazing family, very hospitable indeed. Nice room too, I feel comfortable. There’s no AC but it’s fine because Ella is quite cold and the breeze of fresh air is still the best. I had a very nice sleep here. Our breakfast was very delicious and in big portion, love it. Highly recommended and will surely come back. Don’t hesitate to book this place for your stay in Ella.

Peaceful Stay in Ella!

We slept here for 3 nights and we really loved it. The place is very nice, a lot of green, a good atmosphere and the host was very very kind, friendly and helpful.  The dinner and breakfast were delicious, the best I had in Sri Lanka. I can really recommend it! The location is perfect. Just 15min by foot to the centre of Ella and also the nine arch bridge and Adams peak are close. 

Great stay!

Well, the headline says it all. Staying with Neranji and Nishanta and their family was an absolute highlight of my whole 3 week trip. The hosts are super-friendly, warmhearted, take great care of their guests and are always available for a chat. Both speak decent to good English, so communication is no problem whatsoever. Neranji is a truly excellent cook and I had urge whatsoever to eat anywhere else wile in Ella. 
Secret Nest Homestay is a 20 min walk away from Ella “Center”. This sounds worse than it actually is – the “center” of Ella is the touristic epicenter of the Sri Lankan Highlands and people interested in homestays are probably more interested in the country’s culture than browsing the souvenir shops for elephant figurines or eating burgers and pizza in overpriced restaurants. The house is located a few steps uphill from the road – just far enough to ensure that you don’t see or hear the traffic. It sort of lies in the middle between the starting point for Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arches Bridge.   Two rooms for guests and the kitchen are on ground level, the family lives upstairs. The rooms are perfectly fine: double bed with mosquito net, adjacent bathroom with toilet and a hot (!) shower. Obviously, if you are looking for luxury hotel standard accommodation or have no real interest in interacting with the local population, this (or any other) homestay is probably not for you. If, however, you want to have a better understanding of Sri Lankan everyday life, you won’t find a nicer, more charming place than Secret Nest. Simply lovely!

What a lovely place to stay – an absolute gem!

Nimal's cooking class was the best idea ever. It was so nice because we where only in two (up to 4pax) and not a group of many many people where you can just watch and not really cook. This way we had the posibillity to talk a lot and get to know more about sri lanka and its people.The food was more than delicious and nimal is a wunderful host. We loves it!!! Wir haben es geliebt!😊

Cookin class

We throughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Secret Nest Homestay.  We had excellent communication right from when we made our booking.  Nishantha met us on arrival.  She is a wonderful host,  friendly and willing to help you have the best stay in Ella. Our room and bathroom were of a very good standard. The location is great,  close to major sights and restaurants or its just a short tuk tuk ride or 15 minute walk to the town centre.
The highlight were the traditional breakfasts and meal prepared for us. Delicious,  tasty and fresh. 
We enjoyed sitting outside watching the wildlife in the trees,  a welcome retreat from the hustle of Kandy and Colombo!
It's worth climbing the steps. We'd love to return. 

Restful Homestay

This is the nicest place we stayed in Sri Lanka! Hosts are very kind, Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner were very tasty. Hosts can arrange pick up from the station or taxi to go in other cities if needed. This is in the middle of the nature, with no city noise. This is at walkable distance from the nine arch bridge and little Adam's Peak. I would recommend it for sure!!

Best place to stay in Ella

Lovely homestay and fantastic hosts. It's a short tuk tuk ride away from the busy main road of Ella, close to the entrance of the trails that lead you to the 9 Arch Bridge and Little Adam's Peak, for which it is the perfect starting point. We usually walk but in this case it was more convenient to take the tuk tuk (especially with the backpacks). If you want to go to Ella main street it's a 15 min walk.

It's the last house before the forrest starts, so the perfect place to enjoy a bit of quietness and you will also find some restaurants nearby that serve excellent food. The hosts are great and we can definitely recommend this place.

Cute and quiet homestay

We loved meeting Neranjani and her beautiful family who showed us the best hospitality. We stayed here for 3 nights and the place is perfectly located between the start of the Little Adam’s Peak trail and the start of the Nine Arch Bridge trail. Neranjani is just the loveliest lady you’ll ever meet and she cooked us an amazing breakfast every morning to get us ready for the day. She also offered us tea throughout the day which we really enjoyed while watching all the beautiful wildlife from the comfort of the porch. Neranjani will also sort everything you need from tuk tuks to laundry. Thank you so much for having us, we will never forget you! :)

Tip: try to book directly with the homestay by giving them a call!

Lovely family :)

We had a great time at the secret nest. The family is really friendly and helpfull, the food fantastic and the location was perfect. Close to Ella city centre bur far enough to have a rest. They can advise different things to do and see and help you with anything. I would defenitly go back if i go to Ella again.

A lovely nest!

We came to Ella and Secret Nest as our first proper stop in Sri Lanka. After the intercontinental flight and a short night we asked to be picked up in Negombo which was no problem. We were even offered a discount and found that the price was very reasonable if you consider the driver had to go the way twice which was more than 13 hours for him.

The room comes with breakfast and Naranja is a truly wonderful cook! She made us a different srilankan breakfast every morning and we ended up having dinner there every evening as well as it was just to yummy! Vegetarian delights were easy for her to create. Sooooo delicious and plentiful! Dinner was 1000 lkr for the two of us including a bottle of water. Don't miss it! 
 
The accommodation itself was simple. They have two rooms ours was the older one which had a little wet smell and the shower was more a dripping. We slept with open doors all 4 nights which was beautiful as there are many frogs and you almost feel as sleeping in a jungle. 

Best welcome to Sri Lanka we could have had. Won't hesitate to stay here again!
