Bit out of the way from central Colombo but easy enough to get there and back.
The house is light and airy and Cyril the owner/manager is just lovely - giving travel tips and happy to ply you with tea or coffee.
The ensuite double I stayed in was clean and comfortable.
The only downside is howling dogs at night and twittering birds in the morning so earplugs might not go amiss. 

Lovely

If you want quiet accommodation away from the noise and dust of the city, this place is for you. There is a bus stop at the top of the road and the bus takes you directly into Colombo in half an hour for next to nothing. There is a large supermarket and bakery nearby to buy things for breakfast and dinner. At Coco Residence you can cook your own meals or order in. There's a lovely shared kitchen and dining area where you can meet the other guests and chat to the delightful host, Cyril, who will give you invaluable advice about what to see, transport, and any other information you might need. I once returned from a long journey and he even made me a cup of tea (and once shared his delicious Sri Lankan breakfast with me!). It's a really friendly guest house. The rooms were clean. The only very tiny things I might criticize, though they are not that important, are that there was no reading lamp (only a large central lamp) so the lighting wasn't so friendly and if you wanted to read before sleeping, you had to get up to switch off the light. There were a few bugs in the bathroom, but I'm pretty sure that's normal in Sri Lanka. A perfect place to stay for families and solo travellers who aren't expecting luxury, but enjoy a simple and friendly guest house.
