Great hotel right in the center of the town. The room was clean. Breakfast was good with home made bread :). The Patron nice and gave good advice on where to go and what to see. Good price. Room had all that you need and included in the price no hidden extras... Would go back again....

I stayed at River Corner last month during my time in Arugam Bay. Haroon is a great owner and manager and makes sure that you enjoy your time here. Rooms are very clean, simple, and the prices are good. It is a short walk to the beach and to the main areas of the town, but far enough from the main road for quiet sleep and solitude if desired. They are very accommodating and willing to arrange rental of scooters, bikes, and vehicles, and to put you in touch with tour operators. The breakfast and beverages are fresh and cheap. Overall, highly recommend!

Nice and Calm

Great guesthouse, great service

Nice rooms, located a little farther from the center and beach (but it is a nice walk there, not far). Good when you want to sleep in silence (in center you can hear loud music during all night). Muslim area, a school and Mosque are very close. As a woman in a muslim area I was feeling little bit uncomfortable, especially in the evening (due to off-season there were very few tourists), but I got used to. I appreciated day and night guards, I was feeling safer. Both of them vere very nice, friendly and helpful. 

What I didn´t like so much was the behavior of the manager (owner). It is an untrustworthy person. Pretends you are his best friend, tells you that you cannot find better price for a service than his, and when you ask in a center, you will find out that almost everywhere are better prices then he said. For hours he can tell you about himself, praising himself.

The cheapest room with shared bathroom is not usable for women. The shared "bathroom" means tuskish style latrine, which is used by staff (only men), and "shower" means 3 low walls and a piece of clothes instead of door, which cannot hide anything. No roof. Also used by staff.
A room with shared bathroom - the room was nice, but the bathroom (shower, toilet, wash-basin) was separated only by a wall.

Contradictory

We had booked a room is this place through Agoda. Upon our arrival the manager told us that his place was full. He tried - to no avail - to put us in a wretched cabana owned by some acquaintance. After a lot of nagging he accepted to consider refunding us. But while we had paid $45 to book the room on Agoda, he insisted that he would not refund us but $ 37.35, that is, the money he would get from Agoda. In other terms, the guy cheated us twice. First he did not provide the room we had booked and paid at his place. Second, he only partially refunded us after one hour of continuous nagging and crudeness. We had to accept this only to avoid losing more time with this crook. 
Arugam bay is a paradise, but this place is hell!
