First of all when we arrived they were not prepared for us. Secondly everything in kitchen was dirty and sticky best to take your own stuff. Showers was dirty. Bed had white marks on it didn't even feel comfortable sleeping in it. It's not recommended for a family but more as a fling kind of place. Service was extremely poor.

Wasn't what we expected

We had our school reunion weekend at the ranch and had a nice and relaxing time. Our morning walks were great too.

Beautiful experience

Needed quite time away. This was the absolute ideal place. Hans and Esther were very friendly. Will definitely go back. Highly recommended 

Awesome Getaway

I have been traveling for the last 30 years between a lot of places because of what we do motorcycle and 4x4 tours with big groups and BMW adventures. So, we want to try his site because we were coming from Sun City and was looking for a reasonable farm place with a lot of bells and whistles. Like riding on a game farm, mountain biking, fishing. But this was a huge mistake and a disappointment not to be recommended. This must be removed from all sites. There is no management just a maid who is running the so-called ranch. No reception. I want the management to remove this place from your site it is very bad for your site and travellers to be recommended. We had a booking at the place and me and my wife arrived late the evening at about 18:30 on the farm. There was no lights at all. You just have to rely on your Garmin. The road to the place is not recommended for a car. The entrance to the place is grown with long grass. Then the maid opens the gate manually after you have to phone the owner. Only certain cell towers are in the area so if you not getting a signal, there is connectivity. When the maid opens the gate manually, with a pad lock and closed it she said we must drive up and park close to the bungalows on the left. There are no lights or pave way to your bungalow. You have to walk through the mud and long grass to get to your bungalow. The maid is the only one with a torch. Then in the bungalow it is completely open space so you can see your partner in the shower no privacy. No tea or coffee. Nothing that you can purchase for the evening not even a beer. I phoned the owner Hans and he suddenly couldn’t hear you. I said to him we are leaving and want a refund. The place looks like this Hill Billy horror movies. Not a user-friendly place to stay. Will never got back or recommend it for any traveller. I mailed Hans for the refund which he not even responded. When we got back on the tar road we got a place Grotto to Gravel which was a 100% improvement on this. Tripadvisor can rather put that place on your list and they are next to the road. Let me know what steps Tripadvisor have done on this matter.

Hill Billy Farm from Horror movie

Beautiful - Peaceful venue. 
Staff were so friendly and accommodating. 
Unit was comfortable. 
Enjoyed the afternoons at the pool, relaxing. 
The views are breath taking.
Will visit again, Thank you to Hans and his staff. 

New Years at Thaba Manzi Ranch

Esther was a great host and tried her best to welcome us. However, a few issues: toaster in our unit not working, oven button not working properly so you have no idea what setting the plate is on. Our braai area was not cleaned every morning and we had to ask to get it cleaned. Staff had no idea on what paths to take to go and hike so we ended up only able to take a couple of walks instead of a proper hike. No lounge chairs at the pool was very uncomfortable as you had to sit on the grass. Room was good, however water pressure was non existent in the shower but good in the bath. Lovely venue and relaxing stay. 

Relaxing Venue

What's on the website is nothing of what is available at the accommodation like horse riding, game, nobody there to show you where to go on the best trail, nobody around full stop. Wish somebody told me to bring fly spray this was a big problem there. 

We thoroughly enjoyed the simple rustic farm beauty. The scenery and the accommodation was perfect for us with our three well trained dogs. Staff are friendly and did not infringe on our privacy and were lovely. Pool was clean and fun and so was the short cut grassy areas. The cattle were quite close by fairly often and the dogs mostly were very well behaved, the friendly horses were also a treat. The hike up to the top of the mountain was great and we all made it though it was tough at times. The historic graveyards and highvelt bush was exactly what we wanted. Ticks were nor a problem but there were a lot of flies- it's a cattle farm :)

Place is generally rundown. Paint peeling from walls, furniture old and unkept with grease stains on the covers. Kitchen cupboard in bad condition. Walking trails are unkept and badly marked. Photos are misleading. Lack of general care and maintenance

Great venue and amazing hospitality - lovely break away from the city! we had normal load shedding but we went to relax and be calm which is exactly what we got. we stayed for 9 days and had an amazing time. Animals, friendly people and a pool next to the mountains, absolute bliss!
