We were in Hadeda Lodge and it was brilliant. Very helpfull staff and the most mind-blowing views of the valley and the game animals. We were served 2 excellent breakfasts and we will be back. The entire experience was amazing

Stunning stay

We were here on the 19th of August 2022 just after 16h30 for wine tasting and they told us for wine tasting you must be here before that time. We came back the next day , we experienced the same treatment and this time we came earlier. But this is not a complaint we are used to been treated like that because of our skin colour. We came to Franschoek to enjoy our weekend and one of the main reasons we chose Franschoek it is because os Chamonix, but unfortunately for us our colour played a role.

Terrible experience

We had a fantastic welcome, tour of the estate and game drive from Herschel, followed by an amazing lunch at Arkeste.
The staff were lovely and lunch was perfect on the terrace. Great to meet the Chef as it's always lovely to give personal appreciation.
Definately recommend a leisurely lunch with a glass or two of their excellent wine

Game Drive, Wine Tasting and Lunch

My husband booked the scenic lodge for my birthday and wow the views are absolutely breathtaking but the lodge is spacious, tastefully decorated  and clean. Breakfasts were great and enjoyed the much needed swimming pool. The lady in the office is an absolute darling and went the extra mile for us as we left something behind. Highly recommend this beautiful peaceful setting.

Fabulous stay

We booked to go on the game drive at 11am, so we turned up just before. We were told that the guy who would be taking us is just in the office and would be out shortly. All of a sudden, a family of 8 or so jumped in the Land Rover used for the game drive and drove off. We were told that the vehicle would be back shortly for us. After 10 minutes, I asked what was happening, to be told that the family were “staying on the farm, and we’re just being dropped back to their accommodation”. I enquired how long it’d be And was told 10 minutes. We waited and waited. It got to 11:20 and we agreed between ourselves that we’d give it another 10, then we would leave. Lo and behold, 10 minutes came and went, so we left (30 minutes after we were booked on) There was no apology or explanation from the staff. 

We given what the family were wearing etc., we believe they they had gone out on the drive in front of us. 

All quite disappointing as we’ve got young children who were excited to see the animals. 

Other reviews of the poor service here seem to be ringing true.

Left waiting

The weekend in Franschhoek was incredibly hot so we scrapped plans for the wine tram and decided to go for something to eat on a wine farm we hadn't visited before

Oh my what a beautiful place and what absolutely stunning food

The service was outstanding and the wine and food some of the best we've ever had

Cannot recommend this place highly enough

Not sure why its leaning towards the hotel side of things in the review questions

Just go for food and a drink and you wont be disappointed

Hidden Gem

From start to finish, an amazing experience! The accomodation, staff, food and specially the wine! Really a memorable holiday and one I highly reccommend! We were returning guests and were also upgraded with no extra cost!

Best getaway ever!

This was the highlight of our day. From the moment we entered, Samantha pulled out all the stops. She certainly made the wine sound interesting and delicious. This went from just another wine tasting in Franschhoek to a memorable event. She is a great ambassador for Chamonix, whose wines are very promising. The setting is beautiful under the oak trees and this is what wine tasting in the Cape should be all about. Put this on your list of wine-tasting because you will not be sorry.

Memorable Wine Tasting

The Marco Polo Lodge on Chamonix Wine Estate offers magnificent views over the Franschhoek valley from its elevated position high up the property.  Our Panorama Suite lived up to its name.  It was very spacious, well appointed with great views including its own private balcony.  Truly 5 star.

Ongoing to the honesty bar for a sundowner we found gin but no tonic.  We phone management and the duty manager arrived 10 minutes later with the tonic.
 
Breakfast was mediocre.  The orange juice was not fresh and the filter coffee was poor.  (We were not offered expresso.)

The management needs some attention to detail.  It's a pity that a 5 star venue is devalued by easily corrected deficiencies.
On booking the Panorama Suite, the details supplied to me said the 2 bottles of wine were included and that meals were available on request.  When I queried that with management prior to my visit I was told that this information was over 2 years out of date!

Accommodation 5 star, breakfast 3 star, coffee, 1 star

We were meandering through Franschoek and let down by a another establishment when we decided to call Chamonix at 14h30 to see if we could have a quick bite.

Clifford, the Manager informed us the kitchen was closing. We placed an order for the Salt and pepper squid and the Miso beef over the phone as we were 19 minutes away.

We arrived and sat on the deck choosing the Chamonix Chardonnay which was buttery and not too wooded.

Clifford's service and hospitality was amazing and he afforded us the pleasure of tasting their Borders Blend, the Chamonix Troika....OMG!!! Definitely the vest red wine I have had all year.

The food was great, given our last minute request and the day was completed with the Chamonix Grappa, again, faultless.
 
It was the best day we have had this year and a welcome spoil given this terrible pandemic.

10/10 for me. Thank you, Clifford!!!
