Comfortably the worst hotel with the worst service around.....!!!
Aircons in rooms don't work, can't get a room with a walk in shower.
Then they don't have non-smoking with an aircon that works, so they put me in a smoking room.
I had to stay longer so at 09h00 this am I book again, now suddenly no available rooms, with stuff that actually works. When I went to the front desk at 10h00 there were available rooms.
Then some chick from Head Office and the hotel manager start to play musical phones with me about who said what.
Believe me, they do have rooms with a shower and a working aircon but it means and upgrade,  they don't care about Private Clients.
Govt employees on a diet of pap, stew and chicken pieces is all they cater for.
And they don't give a fcuk.
Now at the Road Lodge.

Shocking Venue

We were in East London to attend a conference and booked at Garden Court. While the rooms, food in themselves are as we know from this hotel chain, there was an added but very unpleasant hotel amenity: prostitutes. They were allowed everywhere by the hotel management. They knocked on incessantly on doors i.e. not just their clientt's rooms, shouted in the corridors calling each other and even had fights and shouting matches. Despite calling reception to resolve this issue every night into the early hours, it didn't help. The prostitutes even came for breakfast in their almost  Non-existent attire. Safe to say, stay here at own risk. Don't be fooled by the brand name.

Brothel, stay at own risk

It was quite nice, like the rooms perfect for a business trip. The location was perfect and close to where i was doing business.  The staff was very helpful, didnt eatthe food there as i was on a rush and got takeaways.

Relaxing

I traveled to East London for work and was advised to stay at the Garden Court. After our experience, I don't think our organization will be using it in the future. My first impressions were positive enough. The location is great as the hotel is right on the waterfront and a quick walk to a number of shops, restaurants, and attractions. The hotel staff were very kind and attentive and they were able to provide me with a room well before the official check in time which I greatly appreciated. I would advise against taking a ground floor room. I noticed that the locking mechanism on the sliding glass door was not functioning at all. The hotel had installed another locking device on the door but it did not seem very sturdy and I was uncomfortable staying there, especially since I was traveling alone. The hotel did switch me to another room on a higher floor so I didn't have to worry about the fact that the sliding door didn't lock properly. The hotel does not use AC in the hallways so walking to the rooms feels like walking through a sauna. The AC in my room was working well enough but I learned from other colleagues who were staying there that they were having trouble. There is a small gym at the hotel that seemed nice enough and a lovely pool that I did not have time to try. The breakfast buffet in the morning was fine but the water dispenser seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned in awhile as there were things floating in my glass after I filled it. While the staff do their best to please customers, the hotel is in need of an update. Until then, I wouldn't recommend it.

Great location but the hotel is showing its age

On arrival at hotel, waited over an hour for a room to be allocated. Was told rooms being cleaned. On arrival in room was met with extremely disgusting situation. Dirty toilet, hair in bathroom, poorly vacuumed carpets, smelly room, dead insects in room. I will suggest you avoid this hotel. Staff actually also no not care of this poor service.
First bad experience with this hotel group.

Dirty hotel rooms

 always feel comfortable sleeping there, my stay was superb. I would like to recommend two ladies working Garden Court East London mamely: Shereen Bengeza and Nomaphelo you ladies you also made stay fantastic. Keep up the good work team of GC EL 

Best service  at Garden Court East London

The hotel has exceptional reception staff. Improvement can be made in food preparation department. The variety and quality of food (cooking) can be improved at dinner. At breakfast I am vegetarian , I struggled to find something worthy other than cereals. When I thought I found something and sat down I discovered that what I thought was hashbrowns was actually fish cakes.

Lovely hotel

The hotel stay was great; the hotel was clean, the service was wonderful, the food was great (and vegetarian was sufficiently catered for); the custard was good and so was the poached eggs. We relaxed at the pool and it was a very calm atmosphere.

Great Stay

The hotel management should remain as they are ,treating customers with the respect i got on the 3rd February 2020, i really enjoyed my stay at Garden Court East London. The room was clean and the food was well prepared.

Home far away from Home

My stay was made comfortable at the hotel. I enjoyed every moment on my return from work> The food was delicious during breakfast and dinner. And the waiters was excellent. There was this one waitress who was so welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately i miss her name.
