Staying at Southey House was a superb experience!My hosts were friendly & kind - always willing to assist.By chance, I met with the proprietor of this establishment - Like her staff, she was ultra friendly & inquired about my stay experience. I informed her that the parking was a bit tight for more than 3 vehicles - she however assured me that there are plans to expand. Southey House is located in a dead-ended street, leading to a security entrance of a nearby college - I guess this contributed to the reduced traffic & quietness.The view out of the Karoo Room was stunning & contributed to the atmosphere of serenity.My room was virtually a suite - sufficient for a couple to enjoy in comfort.The breakfast included a nice selection of the usual cereals, breads, spreads, yoghurt - the fruit salad, however  varied daily: one day included guava, another day berries... it was these special touches, along with the staff's attitude towards client service, that will draw me back to Southey House on my next trip to the Pinetown area.  Thank you so much for a great experience!

A Stunning, Serene Gem in Kloof

I simply loved staying at Southey House.  Tranquil place with beautiful views.  The staff are friendly and helpful. They are equipped with charged lights during loadshedding, so no need to worry about being in the dark.  Would HIGHLY recommend Southey House.

Beautiful Place

Southey House is an incredible stay experience. Lizette was so friendly and accommodating when I panicked called her late in the evening for an unexpected stay.  The room was very comfortable and their breakfast phenomenal.  Would highly recommend staying here ♥ 

Great Experience

Great location, comfortable, welcoming and friendly staff. Perfect for overnight or longer stays, and ideal for business trips. Have appreciated Lizette's flexibility with booking changes, always willing to please!

Always a pleasant stay!

We loved Southey House. The B&B is clean and roomy. The common spaces are nicely furnished. The rooms are large, comfortable, clean. And the team at Southey was so accommodating. We would highly recommend and will be back. 

Wonderful stay!

Southey House is a very neat and pleasant Bed & breakfast to stray at. It is situated in and quiet neighborhood close to main roads. It has a very good breakfast offering which is made to your liking. Rooms are comfortable, luxurious, well equipped, and clean.

Overall Great Stay

We had the most lovely stay at Southey House. Allthough we only flew in for a wedding and couldn't spend a lot of time there, we felt so at home. When we arrived we were welcomed very friendly, and even the communication between us and the host was very pleasant.

Southey House is very well maintained, and feels like home away from home. The nicest view, and it is so peaceful around the house. Would live to go again.

Home away from home

My stay at Southey House in Kloof was nothing short of outstanding. The property is conveniently situated close to schools, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. yet has a peaceful feel to it, with an incredible view of Durban in the distance.
Lizette and the staff are warm, engaging and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. 

Nothing was ever too much or a problem and all requests were met with enthusiasm. When I asked about exercising, Lizette suggested I walk in the school grounds and provided me with a pass to the school property, which has an amazing walking trail and lovely facilities.

I highly recommend this guest house if you are staying in Kloof.

Stay at Southey House

This is a lovely old house with fabulous airy rooms.  It was immaculately clean and the bedrooms and bathrooms were luxurious and well appointed.  Our room had a great view looking out over the Durban area and there's also a sitting room and balcony downstairs with great views.  The breakfast was delicious.  This place was easy to find right off of the highway and made a great stop for our first night in South Africa, while we were still learning how to drive on the left.  It's in a perfectt location if you are heading from Durban to the Drakenberg, as we were.  I only wish we could have stayed longer.  Will definitely be back next time!

Lovely mansion in quiet neighborhood, convenient to highway

I called Lizette at the last minute as our situation and plans had changed once we got to KZN and she was wonderful! 
The one night's accommodation in the immaculate Southey House was worth every cent... we wished we could've stayed there the entire weekend. Thank you Lizette for going the extra mile and making Rodney, Emily and I feel so welcome and comfortable.
