Pensiunea Valea Mare

Four of us stopped here by chance on a road trip across Romania and what a stroke of luck it was to find this lovely spot. When we arrived, without bookings at this hotel, they were really helpful. We had brought our own food and they were happy for us to use the kitchen facilities to warm it up and their plates and crockery to eat in their lovely dining room. The rooms are lovely, good quality bed linen and a bath with fantastic water pressure. This is all quite apart from the view of the surrounding Carpathians, which is simply stunning, especially in the evening and at dawn. There's a useful and friendly village shop over the road that's open till 9pm for any forgotten essentials, and best of all, the Wifi is excellent. There's a slight mystery as to why there are many books on the dining room shelves, belonging to just a couple of Romanian authors, but the mystery adds to the allure. Very highly recommended indeed.
