Sally Guest House

Excellent stay, good prize, clean and nice room, a little bit loud in the night but Sally was one of the nicest hosts we had in Portugal. I can recommend the room very much. You have 5 minutes walk to the busy centre of faro with bars and Restaurants and all You can wish. Thanks a lot Sally and all the best. 

When I booked I went direct to Sally rather than use a booking site. Got a good discount and I have to say that my room was well worth the money! Sally is a lovely host - really knowledgeable about the area and confident to recommend places, I like that! My room was clean and fresh sheets had been put on that day. Had a two night stay but had I not been travelling the Algarve would have used this as a proper base from which to explore. Thanks Sally! x

I started off by booking a (budget) room for 7 nights at sally guest house via bookings.com, & I have to say it was a good deal/stay, However i was lucky enough to get a free upgrade from sally to an upstairs room with a shower/tv & balcony that was nice of her, Thou sally wasn't there sadly during my stay due to a bereavement but the lady called "rita" checked me in & handled everything, The hotel itself was clean/tidy, Not run down or with any nasty stains or smells, Its not a nightmare to find either as its only around 10 mins walking from the bus station, At night the street outside is pretty silent so no worries about noise for sleep either, I found it to have plenty of hot water & clean towels + the bed was comfy also, The room was a good deal for the money I paid! rita was ok also, Not over talkative but not a pure dragon either, She cleaned my room thoroughly & was polite so that's about all I can ask for i guess, So all in all yes i would go back, & I WOULD recommend "sally guest house" to friends/family or fellow travellers also, Thanks.

Likes -

1. Central location! right next to the old town & the bars/restaurants/supermarkets

2. The bus terminal was only a 10 min walk away

3. No curfew

4. The beach is just a short bus journey away (Two euros & 22 cents, One way)

5. A fast/efficient check in & free wi-fi, No dramas

Dislikes -

1. My sink was leaking in the room, Was scared to use it as it would drip onto the wooden floor, It had some silver duct tape over the joint on the pipe but water was still getting threw

2. The drama with the deposit payment via bank/wire transfer, Ok it was no ones fault but it was a pain trying to get the first nights payment sent to secure the booking, We got there in the end thou :)

3. The reception being unmanned or worse still closed most of the time, Ok they were a buzzer for emergencies but its nice to say hello & goodbye, Or ask a question about the place

4. The lack of a vending machine in reception or even at the top of the stairs, It would be a nice touch (space permitting)

5. Nowhere to drop your key off if you have an early check out like me ie before 8am, A drop box for your key outside reception would be a good idea.

Short stay in Faro, nice and clean, good location!

Great value for money - Sally is sooooo lovely!

A great stay! well worth what i paid!

Sally is a lovely host but the accommodation is not suitable for kids at all. 
The furniture is antique and beautiful but not suitable for kids 
The bunk beds had no ladder my daughter needed to use a utility step ladder that wasn’t nice on bare feet.
An antique glass lamp was on a bedside table in a cramped space. 
My kid knocked on his sleep and it smashed - glass everywhere in the middle of the night. We cleared it up and apologized and paid 4/5 and are still very sorry and sad for Sally. But it should not of been put there in a family room

Other elements that were dangerous: 
The fan had no cover so there were blades spinning. 
The shower screen was broken at the bottom and sharp. 
The window is large and opens fully so is dangerous. 

Sally and her husband are lovely people and the antique decor is lovely. We didn’t find it particularly cheap but Sally does say she is cheap for Faro. And many of the above are perfectly fine if you don’t have children! 

I hope Sally stops marketing as suitable for children. 



Sally is lovely but not suitable for families

The place: filthy, the staff: one was not trained and the owner was rude, there was no wifi in my room even though advertised, no info about transport to airport available, the bed was too small for me to extend my legs
