Best resort in Skardu, I love the ambiance and food there. The surrounding with heart shape lake, love the place and will visit there again this year. You must also try this resort once when you visit skardu and stay here for 2 nights, you`ll love the place and enjoy it. #pakistanitour

After an arduous bus ride along winding mountain roads this hotel is aptly Shangrila. Picture perfect views of the amazing mountains set by a lake. Again Pakistani hospitality second to none. Rooms large and bright. Good food at restaurant and coffee shop. Optional boating experience on lake

I was surprised to see so many negative comments on this hotel because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We had a large room with an enormous bathroom . There was not a kettle in the room but we requested one which was quickly delivered to our room. 
The views and gardens are magnificent and we were even offered a free boat trip on the lake. 
As the resort  was not busy the main restaurant was closed but we had lunch, dinner and breakfast in the lakeside restaurant.
I think my wife and I were the only European guests and we got lots of " selfie" requests from the other guests.

I stayed at Shangrila Resort Skardu on 10 September and it was worth experience. We were staying in deluxe room and it was nice with a good view of Lake.

The Hotel is located in the heart of city extremely  characterestic and lively area within a short walk distance to all sites. Naturally beautiful landscape of hills and surrounded l Beautiful lake . Excellent

Resort is Excellent in Location and Looks likes a piece of Heaven on the earth. Stay Experience is Nice . Recommended to family, Friends and Groups for Amazing Experience. Food Quality is average but BBQ  Experience is Good here. For kids, this is Master Piece to Love and Play. If you are looking for a serene place to spend your days and enjoy the unexplainable beauty of the Baltistan region you have to come here. Skardu Valley presents so much that can never be expressed in words and it all starts from the flight out of Islamabad when you are up and close to NANGA PARBATH (Killer Mountain) and all of its majesticness (I know this is not a word, but see it and try to find a word for it). Then you land in this beautiful serene Lower Kachura Valley to reach the resort. It will take a day at minimum just to get out of the awe of this place. Very picturesque and on top of that World's Best and Friendly Staff. Though wherever you will go around, you will find more and more friendly people eager to make your trip memorable more and more. But the best part of stay was receiving the fresh fruits plucked minutes ago and delivered to your room.
With already fixed rates you can hire the very good quality 4X4s to visit Upper Kachura Lake, Sokh Valley, Cold Desert, Safranga Desert, Kuplu Fort, Shigar Fort, Deosai Plains, Deosai Park, Chota Pani, Bara Pani, Mantoka Waterfall, and so so so many more. The drivers are complete guides who will make your trip to these places like a local and they will entertain you, guide you, explain you, and with their beautiful smile make it so much better. Abbas Bhai (our driver) is now a family friend and we are in contact even after the trip as they make you feel so welcome that you can never forget them.
I will not explain about the sights, and some so unique that you might not find any where in the world, but I will say only this, at least 5 days should be spent just to visit and cover the basic places, I prefer to have 7-9 nights so you can make it THE MOST MEMORABLE TRIP OF YOUR LIFETIME.

The experience of my stay at Shangrilla Resort, Skardu was outstanding. This resort is well spread over a large span of land. The rooms here are not confined in one building. Rather, there are small buildings of two separate rooms, with a gap between the buildings, because of which I enjoyed unbelievably privacy. As the Resort is spread over a large span of land, I enjoyed walking whenever I can out of the rooms which I had booked in advance. There is a small man-made lake in the centre of the entire land of this Resort. Tourists can enjoy boating in this man-made lake. The food sold in this Resort is rather expensive, but the taste and variety of the food sold here is well worth the price.

One of the most spectacular and serene valley we visited ever. The main shangrila resorts is around lower Kachura lake. Looked like fairly land with huts around the lake. They have a beautiful cafeteria in the body of an old vintage aircraft and very beautiful dinnig area. At night it gives the look of a Magical Kingdom with beautiful lights all around. Strongly recommend for Skardu Valley visitors.

Heaven on earth 

We stayed in Shangrila resort Skardu for five days from 21  to 27 April and it was an amazing experience. The views were mesmerizing with the villa overlooking lower  Kachura lake  and snow covered mountains in the background. The staff was friendly and co-operative with adequate facilities in the villa. The Pagora restaurant had delicious food and breakfast. The room service was a bit average whereby we had to call for everything.  Overall it was a great experience and our family enjoyed thoroughly

Mesmerising views, serene environment, friendly staff, average room service.  

Shangrila Resort is recommended only for an evening/morning tea in the rock cafe. Rooms are overpriced and dated without basic amenities. The lake and mountains are beautiful. The resort buzzes with tourists because, with a nominal entry ticket, it is accessible to tourists not staying there.

Location, location and location

Came on a nostalgic trip as I was here in 1988. Bad idea. Resort is now a zoo with lake open to public for Rs.350 each. Not a private luxury resort as advertised. You are sitting holed up in your room as outside is a jungle gym feeling. No privacy on the terrace. No quiet space unless you go all the way up the mountain. The rooms are Ok but not Luxurious. No refrigerator in room. No iron or ironing board. Food is OK nothing memorable. They do not cancel once booked. Not worth the money they charged. Wish I had stayed longer at the Serena Hunza or Shigar. I had wanted to share my teenage memory with my daughter. Instead have to apologize for putting her through this. Also frequent loss of electricity although they have a generator but the 30 mins disruption can drive you crazy.

Not a Luxury resort at all. More like a room in a zoo.

The setting of the hotel and the grounds it sits in is amazing picture perfect, but the actual accommodation you stay in is absolutely rubbish. 
It's falling apart and outdated. 
Looks like the owner hasn't spent a single penny on accommodation itself since opening in 1983.
There's no doubt the grounds and lake is maintained. 
Will not recommend unless you don't mind staying in 3rd class accommodation. 
Wont be coming back until sorted!!
