Shortland Court Motel

Place is older but clean close to the road but all of the motels are in a line so would all be the same. Bed was comfortable good shower. Place was reasonably priced and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming Would stay again

While on the main road into town, this motel is not particularly affected by traffic noise. It is easy to find, being on the corner, and well signposted. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, leading us to the room, and assisting us in finding out how the TV/Sky worked, where the light switches were and where the motel information folder was located. The room was disability friendly, featuring a bathroom with only one shallow step to the shower with plenty of space and handrails right around the large shower space, and with a long seat against one wall of the shower. The kitchen facilities were generous, the beds comfortable and good TV viewing with the provision of Sky TV, a vast improvement on TV viewing in Auckland. The office had a huge number of brochures on attractions in the local area and further afield. All together  excellent value for money with good services.

The unit was ok had aircon a bit basic but clean and tidy.

Bit of noise from traffic but slept ok beds excellent.

Has an oven microwave and fridge.  Got milk on arrival.

  Toilet bathroom shower could do with a refresh but overall enjoyed stay and will stay again.

Ok bit dated

I'm sure in the old days the position of this hotel made sense as the traffic would have been much less. My bed was probably about 10 metres from the roadside and it was difficult to sleep as the road is a state hwy and was very busy. Add to that a cat that seemed to think 5am was a great time to sit outside my window and yowl. I didn't get much sleep. The room was OK, a bit aged but clean and tidy.

Satisfactory for one night but very close to the road

Unfortunately we had end unit at front as needed 2 bedrooms. This was very noisy until about 2am then road traffic started again about 5am.
Staff were friendly and unit dated but very clean.

Suited our purpose for one night, but if staying again would definitely want a rear unit. 

Noisy but Clean

I booked this room through an online hotel site and paid for the more expensive ‘executive room’ and I couldn’t stay here. It was old and very worn. And in fact the rig they had placed over the torn carpet was filthy. The carpet was stained in many places. There were holes in the wall above the bath that didn’t fill me with comfort. Their executive room was also the closest to the street and traffic noise was loud. They said they couldn’t move me because they were full but seriously there were no vacancies. But the place looked empty. But they did agree to refund my non-refundable prepaid money. So I moved on.
This place is just old and the prices don’t reflect that. It was pretty clean except for some spots of uncleanness.

The least executive room

Built on the corner of the main road and side street.  Very noisey. Pokey uncomfortable bedrooms and bathroom.   Shower cubicle small.  No where on handbasin to put toiletries for three people or to hand towels. Avoid this one!

One night too many!

Good welcome, then it all went downhill. Very much beer accommodation at champagne prices. 
No compendium in room to tell you of good restaurants to visit, POI in Thames, no info on Chemists, Doctors, Hospital, Taxi Services or public transport, supermarkets, no info on what to do for new towels etc, no info on laundry facilities, free WIFI, how to order breakfast let alone what you could get for breakfast, no info on contacting office, exactly 50 TV channels, no CNN or regular news channels or Movies from SKY. 
Only info in the room was emergency exit and assembly point, other than that you were flying blind. 
The beds were something to be desired, had the roll to the middle or roll off the bed effect and the sheets were very loud. Cooking utensil consisted of an old burnt rubber/plastic egg slice. Very basic accommodation to say the least.  
On second day emergency housing family came in, we were not informed at any time it was an emergency housing establishment. 
We felt very uneasy when getting up two mornings in a row to a vehicle parked very very close to our vehicle outside our unit with a homeless person asleep in it, according to proprietors, the occupant was tied up with the emergency housing client and we got the impression it was ok to sleep in the vehicle on the property. 
Felt very vulnerable and unsafe, were thankful we were finally leaving.
The house keeping staff were very cheery around the complex.
