Peaceful one night stay here. Gary who lives on site welcomed us and he was so helpful,  showing us around the site, ensuring we were comfortable. We actually ended up being the only people on the site for the night which was cool! The on site facilities were great (the kitchen has everything you could need), the wifi was excellent and the view was brilliant. A hidden gem.

A peaceful stay

Excellent stay at the campsite, with complimentary kayak hire down a beautiful, peaceful river beside Haruru falls. Michael is a very friendly and accommodating owner who has recently taken ownership of the business. I would strongly recommend staying here 

Overnight stay at campsite

The staff that I spoke to had fluent English, were very helpful and we fully enjoyed our 3 night stay. My family and I were on a journey to cleanse and refresh our wairua from the busy life in Auckland. We were in the rooms above which had the best views of Haruru Falls. When you sat out on the balcony your wairua was at total peace (I'll savour those memories forever). We were only sleeping in the rooms and out having fun everyday. I highly recommend this place if you are needing privacy. We also shared the communal kitchen one day (by choice) which was fine, the other guests were great as my wider whanau had shown up and we had too much food to cook :) We were not fussed with the pool being empty as we managed to get out on the kayaks that were on site - you have got to try the kayaks!!! If you have high expectations when it comes to accommodation - kei te pai tera - maybe this place is not for those who are fussed about the little things. Overall, excellent value for money, we loved the rooms, the grounds, the atmosphere and the people. We have planned our next trip back in October :) We leave Haruru with wonderful/precious memories and our wairua has HEALED ...

Beautiful people, the staff are friendly and kind. I had the most relaxing and peaceful stay here. The wairua of this place is so warm and peaceful. The waterfall and view is breath taking and I cant wait for my next stay 😍

Weekend getaway

I only intended on staying one night but found this beautiful spot so relaxing and laid back that I stayed for three nights. It had all the amenities I needed plus a perfect view of the falls from my motor home rear window. Management and staff were friendly and helpful. 
I will definitely be returning. 

Relaxing and friendly

Me and my friend and 5 kids stayed here for the weetbix triathlon. It was a beautiful spot with a great view of the falls. 
Room was comfy and clean. There should of been a microwave or some other little oven or something to cook with, salt and pepper would have been good.
Me and kids loved the swimming pool and playground. 
Staff were friendly place could do with a lick of paint and a tidy up but we did enjoy our stay!!

Nice view 

We stayed 2 nights including new years eve. The rest of Paihia and surrounds were booked out and based on the photos we were excited about staying here. The reality was a little different. It is now called "earth citizens retreat" while our bed was comfortable and the pool was good we had no hot water and had to use the communal facilities. The tv did not work. They apologised and provided a small discount but if paihia had not been booked out we would have moved on.

Lovely location but very tired and overpriced

we booked here for two nights, when we arrived to the room there were people two doors down that were smoking dope, it stunk and did not give a great first impression.  our room was very unclean, there was left over hair in the plughole of the bath and on the walls of the bath, the toilet had a dirty ring around the inside, there were cobwebs everywhere around the windows and a big dead cockroach on the floor of the bathroom, also because of my height I could see between bench and microwave in the kitchen and there were multiple dead bugs behind it, my husband then rang and booked another place in paihia and we left the next morning and did not stay the second night, more attention to cleaning must be done it is a real let down.

lovely location but room was dirty , overpriced

we booked a room in this resort for our bay of islands trip.location is great,had a great view of the haruru falls. check in and check out was very quick, at first glance, the room looked nice and tidy until..we start checking around. the pillows- pillow case were stained with black prints(maybe a shoe print) have to sleep without them. had to double check everything even the sheets for more surprises,good thing didn't find anything. opening the drawers, saw some brochures and receipts  left behind by the previous occupant. toilet bowl hasn't  been cleaned well,saw some icky stains 🤢there was also a used soap that wasn't removed from the shower..😞 

all in all, stay was just 😑. at least we had a good view. ☺️

just okay 

We came to Paihia for a family reunion and multiple familes choose to stay at this resort for the handy location and lovely pool.
We would not recommend this property for the following reasons...
* The hosts do not speak English and are not at all friendly or welcoming
* the pool was closed and there was no forewarning of this when we booked 
* the rooms were filthy and smelly and when we complained they gave us cleaning product and rubber gloves so we could clean it  ourselves
* The BBQ was filthy so we couldn't use it.  
* The grounds and gardens  are run down
* They ask you to not drink alcohol in your room.
