- I reserved this hotel in Jan 24 for a planned trip abroad. 5 days before arriving I suffered an accident (broken bones) in late June and could no longer travel. 
- The hotel never replied to my travel site's or my requests for cancellation on J-5. 
- I was able to reach someone J-2 by phone who was unaware and could not reply. 
- A day later, on J-1, after still not receiving a reply and again calling, a negative response was finally given.

I have no doubt at all that the hotel will be able to rent the room during peak end-June season thus profiting from the situation. Not so nice.

I do not recommend reserving this hotel because you can be sure that they will not act professionally or with concern for their guests.

Avoid. Not responsive and refused to cancel reesrvation after serious accident.

Hotel is in a great location in Amsterdam. All the main tourist attractions are walkable. A short 25 min walk to train station which is great for getting to the Airport.
We stayed 2 nights. Rooms are basic but clean and comfy. A great base for a visit to Amsterdam. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Didn’t get breakfast but a good price for 5 euros. Load of nice bars and restaurants in the area

Brilliantly located small hotel

I'd the misfortune of booking this Hotel in peak summer. It's a travesty for a Hotel. Lobby is closed by 7 PM so you pick up keys from a bar next door. Then in Peak Summer heat, the owner doesn't have the common sense to put a table fan inside the room for his guests.  I'd stay away from this DORM even if it's the last room available in AMS.

We stayed at the Prinsenhof in December.
The service we received from the moment we entered the hotel was outstanding.
We arrived early which wasn’t a problem .
We were told our room would be ready in 30 mins ,this was perfect we went for a coffee ,came back  and our bags  had been taken into the room .We felt relaxed and looked after throughout our stay .The ambiance ,rooms ,breakfast were all wonderful.The team at the prinsenhof really made the difference to our holiday.Everyone we came into contact with reception,breakfast,housekeeping all were welcoming,friendly and courteous.Thankyou we were a mother and daughter who just wanted to spend some time together and you helped make that time extra special.

Wonderful hotel

Friendly and helpful staff.
Traditional hotel by a canal.  
Lots of steep stairs - but that is the nature of the building.
Liked the luggage hook in the stairwell.
Nice bar next door.
Walk down the main street (or catch a tram) to get the the centre of Amsterdam.

Great little hotel by canal in quiet area of Amstersam

The hotel are located in walking distance to more or less everything in Amsterdam. Nice rooms, good breakfast where calm jazz is being played, and polite and helpfull manager. Great value and several restaurants nearby.

Great location and good service

Great Location., next to Tram stop. Very warm welcome from Sonia and Husband. Room was great as was shower. Very Clean. Lots of nice bars and restaurants close by. Recommended and would definitely stay again.

Perfect Stay

Very easy check in, staff were super friendly especially the gentleman when we checked in. We had a room for 4 people which was surprisingly spacious and had a beautiful view over the canal. Room was spotless and beds very comfy. The friendly lady on check out let us leave our suitcases in the back room so we could explore Amsterdam some more. 10/10 will definitely stay again!

Amazing Stay!

Just at the weekend there, me and my friend were staying at this hotel, it was perfect! The room was cosy and very clean, the shower was also good and toilets were clean, the hosts of the hotel also were lovely and made us feel relaxed. Comfy beds, everything was within walking distance.
I can’t praise it enough!!!

Perfect

Really nice and clean. Easy check in. Close to tram stop and the square with lots of bars. Small cafes and bars all around. Good for groups and couples travelling. Steep staircases not too much of a problem. Friendly owners. Would defo recommend it. Nice and clean. Would have given 5 stars but on one morning no hot water for the shower. Shower otherwise very good.
