What a beautiful location! The camp is perched on top of a hill and reached by a walk of about an hour and a half through local villages and fields. We had a great stay here. The rooms and tents were very comfortable, there was hot water in the shower and the food was excellent. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we had a good hike around the surrounding area. It was a really lovely stay.

Spectacular views

Aweful stay. Very isolated from local life, top of the hill resort, very hard to access, very overpriced for what they offer. Rooms were simple, bathrooms were very smelly, no towel, no WiFi, issues with showers and hot water, couldn’t charge my devices as most of outlets were not working. Nobody could speak English so our guide was translating for us. Half of the food on the menu wasn’t available, the dining area was very ugly. No amenities or common/relaxation area, just a basic tea house.  Meals were very basic. The only bright side we’re the views, and the management was nice enough to offer us a small dicount as we were extremely disappointed with our stay, so we paid $30 instead of $40. Yet, still overpriced and very unpleasant stay.

Aweful stay

Horrible, smelly, poorly maintained place. Unfortunately we were too tired after trekking all day to find another one, as it was the only one place on the hill.
Over priced and shouldn’t be on the market at all, toilet was so stinky .
They dropped the price a little though.
Wouldn’t recommend to go there.
As for location it’s not that great, too far from the village, nothing much to do there at all.

Nasty experience

The Balthali Hill Resort is a unique place off the beaten track. To reach the Resort you walk appropriately one hour. The view of the mountains is splendid. Excellent kitchen.
A lot of possibilities to walk around

We were 23 of us from Himalayan Glacier team who planned a hiking break before the onset of the peak season, to get refreshed and come back replenished with full energy. Drive from Kathmandu to Bhaktapur and a brief sightseeing spree was worth. Short ramble in Panauti wasn't bad either. Hiking from Khopasi to Balthali Eco Hill Resort was adventurous although some of our fellow companions grumbled on the undulating path especially the final leg of the hike which was a dead steep before we reached the Resort. Resort??? I'm afraid it wasn't more than a cheap hotel in Kathmandu. The welcome atmosphere was frustrating as the in-charge didn't hesitate to inform "Sorry we are running out of water". We had booked 10 rooms by telephone as well as electronic mail few days ahead and it was all confirmed. To our utter disgust, they had 9 rooms in total, and other tent arrangements to sleep. After an hour of dissatisfaction from our part, we compromised to sleep in 7 rooms and remaining tents on the repeated pleas from one of the owners who had arrived few moments after our arrival along with his personal guests. There was no sense of hospitality (not even an iota), we had to compromise on everything. Rooms were stinking terribly, food was not as palatable as expected. We ordered for BBQ, but never felt its presence. When inquired about the BBQ session later in the evening, they inform us that it was already over, and they had served the BBQ outputs without us even noticing it. I will never ever recommend it to any of my fellow counterparts of my friends who wish to embark on a hike in the rims of the Kathmandu valley. Although the place felt so relaxing, the ultimate place to rest our heads was horrifying. If you ever happen to hike to Balthali village in future, try for some other places to lay over. This is definitely not a place to sleep!

Not worth a spend!

This might be on your bucket list for your perfect weekend. Located in the remote place near Kathmandu valley, this is the one where you can enjoy your perfect weekend with your colleagues. We were on this property a few weeks ago with friends and find this place very lovely and perfect. 

The Owner of this resort was very friendly and the food they serve was organic and good in taste. Room was good and very spacious and shower quality was good. Hot shower in the morning with good water pressure. 

Highly recommended for people to hike to this place instead of taking a jeep.
