Windhoek Lodge

A good down to earth place to stay. Close to a shopping mall. Walking distance to the center of town. Rooms are adequate and showers stronger than in a rain forest. Breakfast is self help. Not a lot of choice - just basic. However, you can meet some very interesting travellers from around the region. Its my place to stay because the staff treat you as an equal.

The taxi driver operating from the guesthouse is an interesting fellow. You get a good conversation on the way to the airport.

Very good location

Very basic for business travellers but the price is reasonable. Breakfast is likewise basic and mainly do-it-yourself. Strength of the free WiFi varies from room-to-room. The location is withing walking distance of the town centre. Considering everything the value-for-money is good but woudln't want to stay longer than one night

Basic hotel but ok for an overnight stay

We just needed a place to stay for the night in Windhoek, and availability for our budget was a problem, but we found Windhoek Lodge; the room was nice and clean and was decorated tastefully. There was secure parking for our vehicle overnight, which we were very happy about. The B&B is centrally located, close to the mall, with easy access to everything. We did not have breakfast the next morning as we wanted an early start; the only thing I would have liked is coffee making facilities; there was a kettle, but no cups or coffee or tea to enjoy a cup of coffee before hitting the road.

Clean & Central

Beware of the Windhoek Lodge. There are no safes in the rooms and the staff will take the immediate opportunity to steal from you. They will use hotel keys to enter your room as soon as you leave the room and steal cash and valuables - and make a clumsy attempt to not be detected by only stealing some of it. The manager doesn't care and would rather play rugby with his kids then attend to customers' traumatic experiences, and only then would he dismiss it as "someting that happens". Stay somewehere else!
