We spent our honeymoon here a few years ago. Very comfortable. Large rooms. Great pool. Close to Centro, but quiet. Funky decor and furniture. Probably overpriced for Merida, but you find many places like this.

Something different

We simply did not want to leave the hotel due to its perfect charm. Wonderful interior design. We loved the pool in the middle of the building. The whole place is like a palace from a fairy tale. I've never been to such a great hotel in my life.

The most amazing boutique hotel I've ever stayed at

What a beautiful home. Lots of art, photos and antiques make this a a unique stay and enhance the mystery of this colonial house. We stayed in Frida Kahlo room. Loved artifacts and history. The rooms are dark but it adds to the experience.

Classic colonial

We were surprised by how dusty and dark our room was.  Overall it is an interesting site, quiet, with walkways and privacy is a plus.  But seems quite unkept.  The pool was not available for use due to some problem.  Also ended up with many big bites on legs.

Musty and dark

Everyone's right -- this place is adorable. 

But the antique furniture gives the place an intense mustiness that's hard to shake. I was cool with it, insisting it was "part of the charm"... until I woke up covered in bug bites. Some mosquito bites (okay, I can accept an old building not being terribly well sealed).... combined with a bunch of other bites that appeared to be from either bedbugs or good old-fashioned fleas. 

Granted -- this was a two-bed room (the one with the loft bed), and I had a problem in the upper bed. My mom, in the queen bed downstairs, was fine. But watch out... the dark sheets should have been a tip-off.
