Most charming spot in San Jose. The design, food and team were amazing. It is such a hidden little gem. You feel like you are a local and part of the community. The other guests were world travelers and we were able to chat with and get to know several of them.

Best boutique hotel in San Jose del Cabo

Overall, I loved this hotel. The location is great and within walking distance to many places in the old town. Another highlight is the food — it is very very good, and the drinks match!  The pool is lovely and while we were there, it was usually pretty empty which we enjoyed. The rooms are all very clean and beds are SUPER comfy! 

There are a few caveats worth noting: first, there is no “check-in” desk or on-site staff. They use a virtual service to help with everything.  This was not a problem for us, but just something I wish they had told us before we arrived. The texting we did with the service was VERY quick and helpful. Second, there is no housekeeping while you are there; again, not a deal breaker (and I am all for saving washing sheets/towels), but this was not communicated to us prior to booking. When I texted to ask, we were offered service for a charge, or, they could come and just empty trash — I asked for the trash to at least be emptied but that was sadly not done. 

Third, and most importantly, the windows here are not airtight and there is A LOT of noise. If you are a light sleeper or someone who tries to go to bed early, this hotel is not for you. As New Yorkers, we weren’t too bothered, but there was a festival both nights we were there and you could hear the music thumping (there must be no noise ordinance around here). On a Thursday night they played bumping music until 2:30AM… it was very irritating.

High level: beautiful and clean hotel with comfy beds, but not for light sleepers or people who want to have a lot of “service” throughout the day.

Beautiful and Fun Hotel with Central Location!

SUPER friendly boutique hotel in Centro district of San Jose. Tasty eats, but the BEST is the pina colada clarita twist created by mixologist Jonathan at the bar. It’s like a Lay’s chip, impossible to have just one-eh! Make it a MUST GO TO on your Centro list!

After requesting a quiet room, several days prior to arrival, we were informed when we arrived, that they would have a DJ playing in the bar that night. We asked how long it would be playing and were told 11PM. At 3:40AM the thumping/thudding headache inducing NOISE stopped. They had the audacity to send us a text telling us that quiet time was from 10PM to 8AM!! YOU CANNOT BE BOTH A NIGHTCLUB AND A HOTEL!

Drift…is it a nightclub or a hotel?

Drift was what we hoped for and more for our anniversary trip! 
We don’t like big resorts. They can be boring and feel like your trapped in a bubble. Drift is a part of the city with excellent staff and food. 
Greeted immediately as we entered Isreal, Lucy, Alex, and Mau quickly taught us we could count on a friendly face whenever we returned for the day. The food was excellent and we hope they bring on specialty coffee in the future so we can spend all day at the location. 
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were excellent! Prices are fair and any complaint otherwise is from an uniformed guest who imagines food costs haven’t tripled or quadrupled in the last year. 
You are in the city so there’s noise. We didn’t find it inconvenient with ear plugs. Thursday night could be really fun if you can stay up late. There’s an art walk, a DJ at the hotel, and people and vendors everywhere. If you’re fragile the DJ may bother you but we used ear plugs and it wasn’t an issue. 
If you want a big resort “Starbucks” experience then you may not enjoy this place. 
If you love relaxing, reflecting, reading, good food, walks in the town, and Mezcal then Drift is for you! 

The rooms are open and full of light. If you like a cave like hotel room don’t come here. 

While the interior design has a “brutalist” concrete element the team has done a good job to soften the rooms. Thanks god for the killer A/C because it’s hot in June!

Fresh and fun with the right amount of peace.

Hotel charged me double ($300) for two dirty towels and a sheet that had some watermelon juice. We honestly think they were mad we didn’t spend more at their bar/restaurant… they were super awkward everytime we would walk by and act dissapointed when we didn’t sit down to eat. I asked for management to call and for an itemized invoice for the charges, neither of which was sent. Now I have to contest with my credit card. It’s a nice hotel but staff is awkward and money grubbing. If they hadn’t ripped us off after check out I would have considered going back.

Watch out they will rip you off. Also very loud. Staff is awkward and untrustworthy.

So glad to have stayed here. We had a great time. The staff was professional and overall amazing and feel like we made new friends. The restaurant, room and amenities were so well thought out, stylish and comfortable. Excellent location, tons of fun to walk around the area too. Todo fue perfecto. Muchas Gracias

Hotel is cute. Staff great. But don’t stay here if you have any desire to sleep before 4am. Booming techno shakes the walls.  It’s not the hotel’s fault but it will be your problem  it’s pretty relentless

Way too loud

The hotel is lovely - concrete and stone - each room tastefully accented with lots of macrame and woven materials to add texture.  The bed sits on a concrete platform - the night stands are also concrete and attached to the wall.  There is no other furniture, save a hanging woven chair in the ceiling corner.  There is no closet or drawer space - this is a very Japanese aesthetic.  The TV hangs from the wall.  The bathroom - also concrete -has a large walk in shower - all the piping is exposed - think copper against the gray cement.  There are outdoor seating areas with cushions on every floor and appropriate plantings in all areas.  First floor features a heated plunge pool and an outdoor bar with lots of seating.   It all looks good and the pictures on-line really sold me.

However, there is no elevator, there is no lobby other than the bar discussed below, there are no bell-men(persons).  I don't know if there is room service, but I had to follow someone to the "pantry" to get a bucket of ice (in a galvanized metal bucket).  A person seated at a the bar checked us in via an Ipad. We carried our luggage up 3 flights of stairs - so NO HANDICAP ACCESS.  The courtyard is filled with gravel, so no wheelchair access on the first floor and if you are unsteady on your feet, this may not be the place for you.

The bar is a significant feature here - there is a DJ apparently on Thursday and Saturday nights.  If you don't have a back room or cannot move to one (we asked and none were available), be prepared to listen to house music until midnight.  (I should have known when I saw earplugs provided in the room.  They didn't help).

What you see on-line is all you get.   It is in a good location in the historic/gallery district. 
There is limited street parking but there is a public lot about a half block away if you have a car.  



This is not a full service hotel.

The rooms are fine and hotel is trendy.  The noise though is really bad.  We basically slept inside of a night club and everyone at breakfast laughed about the same thing.  Shower is really weird also as it is in the middle of the room without a curtain.  It looks cool but isn’t functional.  We paid over $400 usd for the night and we overpaid by 300 for what we got.  If you don’t need to sleep or shower and just want a cool bar then this place is for you.
