Currently stopping for 9 days and very pleasantly surprised after reading some of the previous reviews. I am always totally honest and not swayed by others experiences. Check in was very quick, I paid in cash and the staff were welcome of the change. Both on reception were smiling and answered any questions I had. My room is a single with a private bathroom opposite. Both have electronic locks on. Didn’t have a plug for sink that was rectified within minutes once I reported. The shower is really powerful and plenty of hot water. Towels and bedding are provided. The single bed is ok, a few power points, a desk, set of drawers and a wardrobe with a few hangers. Iron and hairdryer are available for use for a deposit. Information area in reception on things to do in Malta. Bus stop 5 minutes walk away. The accommodation is clean. The breakfast is continental, salad, meats, cheese, cakes, fruit, cereals, breads, juice and hot drinks.  I paid less than 17euros for this! I know it gets more expensive as the summer approaches. Swimming pool is pretty big and deep as well so you can actually swim a bit rather than just paddle. Customers are mostly young groups that are supervised at the moment and are well behaved. There are a few more elderly visitors including myself nearly 50 and a guy who just left who was 81 and this was his second time and is returning again in the autumn. For those that are old enough to drink I would recommend the Kings Gate Arms about 3 minutes walk away. Lovely friendly place with good music and all sports.

Excellent Value for Money 

I had a one person superior Room with small kitchen and y own bathroom inside my room. I was there in the middle of September and payed a very good price. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is very close to Sliema and you have multiple options for bus station. It was a very pleasant experience however I have some critique: the kitchen was very spare. I had to buy a lot of extras. Also it can get very loud during the night so I recommend earbuds.

good for the price 

The hostel is not far from public bus stations and about 3 km from Valletta. We had a private double room, which was very simple but clean. The bathroom was private as well but external, across the room. There are magnetic door cards instead of keys. The wifi was correct as the breakfast, which was simple but various. There is a drinking water available in the breakfast room all day long. The hostel is usually full of teenagers and students, so it could be sometimes a bit noisy. There is an outdoor pool in the yard.

Great cheap place for a few night stay

Cheap, OK stay in Malta with excellent breakfast, good value for money, we had a Twin Room with Private External Bathroom (the external bathroom mean that it is opposite of the room, very close) all the doors are opened with the same card (the bathroom also), WiFi OK, there is an Air Con. Close to transportation.The room is basic, like a student dorm, no TV, no carpet no decoration. walkable but not near the touristic places, some noise from the corridor.

Good value for money

The beds in the dormitory room are ok, but it very much depends on with whom you will stay.
I happened to have such a bad experience this time, because there are people who stay here for weeks and start feeling like in their own house.
The second things that bothered me was the common kitchen. It is very dirty (in the literal sense), people do not was dishes, and I think the manager of the place should  operate it more rigorously to maintin higher level of cleanliness. I have not seen the photos of the kitchen neither on booking nor on tripadvisor but it was pretty nasty.

The breakfast is really nice, and the whole of personnel is very friendly and hospitable. They will do everything to help you :)

It is acceptable for few days

I was there as part of a school language trip. I was staying there in am 5-bed room, in the yellow block. The photos you can see with kitchens, desks are in the GREEN BLOCK, the yellow block is way worse. The room was small, really basic, and he bathroom was in another room. The air conditioner was dirty and smelly. The window was really tiny, the air stuck in the room. The Wi-Fi wasn't good in our room, but it was tolerable. The food was OK, and the staff was kind and friendly. The pool was good. Once they had a quiz night about Malta, and they have a grill party every week for dinner.

Tolerable

The people were friendly and helpful, so they more or less resolved small issues in the room (like a leaking soap dispenser). The breakfast was good, but the selection was very small and left hardly any choice. The main problem was the internet, which was very unstable, constantly disconnected, and sometimes could not connect at all. Sleeping was difficult, since the air condition did not keep a constant temperature.

Cheap and average

The only think that it was good it was the receptionist there are all very helpful people. The hostel are full from ages 15-17years old. The rooms wasen't as i except but it was good. The breakfast it was terrible i went just the first day and i didn't went again. The most of the food was uncovered and with files almost on every think

Holidays 

Property advertises on Booking.com "PAY AT THE PROPERTY - no prepayment needed" .... then they tried to charge my credit card (I had it blocked). Be aware and block your credit card when dealing with them. They will try to take money with no authorization. See picture attached.

Misleading advertising

I stayed for 7 weeks at the NSTS hostel due an international internship. This is not a great place to stay for such a long time for several reasons:

The website says breakfast is included. Which was great, the first 2-3 weeks there was actual breakfast. Then one morning I came down and there was no breakfast. They told me they didn't do breakfast anymore because the 'season' was over. So from then on I had to buy breakfast anywhere else before work. 

There is a kitchen but they don't expect you to use it. It's very dirty and there was nog cooking plate. So only a microwave. You could hire a cooking plate but it was in use most of the time I got home from work so i had to buy myself one.Since you can't go out every night for 7 weeks. Also sometimes big groups of kids come around and they get cooked for every night. When I asked if I could join for a price it wasn't possible. There are fridges but in the time i was there one of the doors broke down so a lot of food was spoiled. 

Then the rooms. The first 5 weeks i stayed in a room for 5 females. I luckily got the bed without a bed on top of it otherwise i don't think I would have had place for my stuff. There are no desks or tables in the rooms so if you have to study or work you have to do it in the common room. There is a bathroom with sink, toilet and shower but it's quite dirty. They say the come and clean  once a week but mostly don't. The shower broke down after 2 weeks but they didn't bother to fix it. When you shower the water gets to the beds which is not really convient for the people lying there. You get 1 closet around 1m-1m so I had to keep my suitcase beside my bed all the time. There should be a lock on the closet but it didn't work so I had no way to keep my notebook save. 

Then the WIFI. There is a system that only a limited amount of users can be on it. so if it's busy or there is a group chances are you don't have wifi. Then if you get the chance to be on the wifi, it's slow and you cannot do a lot.

When I came there were two washing machines without supervision. There was no place to dry your clothes so I had to buy a drying rack and put this above my bed(this is why it was very convient I had no one else sleeping above me) Then one night one of the washing machines burned down.  Then they moved them to a room downstrair and locked them so you had to ask them is you could use it. with that they also started asking money per washing. 

The last 2 weeks I finally stayed in a private room. I kept asking before if they could move me as one would come available. but even thought they would make more money they never listened and didn't keep me updated. So I kept checking the rooms myself online. When one came available I asked if I could change but they didn't say they had one available. I showed them on my phone but they still kept saying it. So I just booked it online and then went down back at reception, and wow they finally saw it was available.  

They also host a lot of big groups of kids there. So there is a lot of noise on the hallways. 

Luckily I was there when the weather wasn't too hot, because there is no AC. 

Overall I had a great time in malta but this hostel wasn't a part of it. A lot things could have been improved by service.
