We were back here once again after a year away and delighted to report the maintaining of consistently high standards. The view from the balconies over the surrounding area are tremendous as my photos show. Maria is a perfect hostess - nothing is too much trouble for her. Bedrooms are clean and welcoming and guests can use communal refidgerators which are on each floor. Breakfasts are superb - with a great array of fresh fruit, breads, cheeses, meats, cereals and eggs cooked as you would like them. Overall this is a truly excellent place to stay in a quiet corner of Gozo with walks on the ta cenc right outside the door.

Consistent high standards

This place is nice, clean and quiet.
Maria and all her staff are great. Kids had a blast at the pool. Breakfast, everything is fresh. Highly recommended especially with small children

Excellent

We've just got back from a 4-day holiday in this beautiful place in Sannat, Gozo. The residence is beautiful, with nice antique decor, clean rooms and a big pool. The facilities are ample, we also had a big fridge, an ironer and could also watch football on a big screen downstairs in the homely living room. The breakfast was superb. The area is also beautiful, just a few minutes away from Ta' Cenc cliffs and the 5-star hotel Ta' Cenc. But the best part is the hospitality of the owners and their helpers, they're just amazing. Thank you for making our holiday a fantastic one, will for sure visit again.

Amazing place, people and surroundings ...

I have just returned from a weekend at il Girna residence with my family as well as our family dog (Il Girna is animal friendly!) The host, Mary, is such a lovely lady who does her best to ensure her guests have a most pleasant stay.  The rooms are very spacious, airy and clean. The residence has a very warm and cosy feeling about it and  we felt very relaxed throughout our stay. The breakfast is very good and abundant with a good selection of different items, including fresh fruit in season and local specialities.  The residence is situated in the charming typical Gozitan village of Sannat.  The residence and the surroundings enjoy a lot of peace and tranquillity.  Perfect for visitors who would like to relax.  Il-Girna is about ten minutes walk from the spectacular cliffs of Ta Cenc and within walking distance of other interesting places such as Mgarr ix-xini and Xlendi. Overall good value for money.  Will defintely visit this place again!

A most welcoming and tranquil place

We wanted to spend 3 days in Gozo this Christmas holiday and booked Il Girna. The place looks nice and the Maria, the host, is a lovely lady. Unfortunately, the place is not really suited for guests during the winter time.  It was freezing  in the common areas, and given the size of the house, just not practical to heat it up. There were heaters in the rooms or AC units also providing heating, but the windows were not properly sealed to maintain a reasonable temperature. After one night of using the heater, the room was still very cold. Never mind using the bathroom or wanting to take a shower. We could not get ourselves to stay more than 1 night, but payed in full, as we just did not want any animosity to ruin our holiday. We would definitely give it a try in the summer as the residence itself seemed perfect for the hot season.
