VOI Dhiggiri Resort - All Inclusive

Well, for starters, I had to isolate myself in a country other than India to be able to enter Australia where I live ( thanks to the pandemic) and so I decided to gift myself a 20 day vacation in Maldives. Nakai Dhiggiri resort, my home for the past 20 days has been a very delightful experience. I stayed at the beach villa which allowed me to enjoy the sea breeze, let me walk up to the beach with my snorkel on and I could straightaway see fishes, sharks and what not. Towards the end of my trip, I’d upgraded to the water villas which was much much better. The deck from the room gave me a spectacular view of the sea. I even saw dolphins dancing from my room and they were beautiful. Also, I could jump on to the sea straight from the deck.Absolutely worth the additional $$. Thanks to the really pleasant staff at the resort who made my stay all the more enjoyable. The waiters at the restaurant would decorate my table everyday, judging by mood and make sure the correct ambience was created. Special mention to Riyadh, who used to engage in bubbly conversations with me while serving the right food and drinks. Being a vegetarian, I found the food to be of acceptable quality and taste. However, better variety and options could have been included. Two major highlights at the resort are the diving centre and the water sports. I went on a single snorkelling excursion, half day snorkelling excursion, night snorkelling excursion and also scuba dived almost 6m. Marco, the diving instructor was extremely professional and friendly. He was extremely understanding of the fact that it was my first experience and taught me little hacks about how not to panic. The sites where I was taken for snorkelling and diving had these really beautiful corals and extremely cute fishes. I saw blue surgeon fish ( v v v beautiful), nurse sharks ( extremely friendly), turtles, manta ray and what not. It was a delight to the eyes and mind. So so soooo refreshing and different from what you see on land. Just as Patrick ( the water sport instructor) says, “ the beauty of Maldives lies underwater”. I took a ride on the Catamaran with Patrick. He took me to a sand bank where I could click beautiful pictures and capture the aesthetic of Maldives. This shows the extra care the staff at Dhiggiri Nakai resort take to ensure the guests have an enjoyable experience. I also took windsurf lessons with him and really thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlight of my trip was playing water volleyball. It was one of the days when you couldn’t windsurf because the wind was not strong enough and you simply didn’t want to snorkel either. Patrick realised the vibe among the guests and organised an impromptu water volleyball game which few other guests and I thoroughly enjoyed. Not to forget the jetski experience. The water sport centre at Dhiggiri organised a day where they’d hired jetskis from a nearby resort and let the guests enjoy them for a bit. I really loved the adrenaline rush as I speeded my way into the Indian Ocean. Again, thanks to the team for going over and beyond to create a lovely experience for me and other guests. Another noteworthy service at the resort is the one from the room service team. Mahesh, the team leader was super innovative. Every time I walked into my room, my bed would be decorated with some fancy designs. His tiny “ surprises” for me in the form of fancily decorated beds really made me like my room all the more. Aside from his innovation, he’d also constantly check with me regarding the room service and understand if I needed anything more. This shows great professionalism and a great salute to Mahesh and team for that. Vachana, kumar, Prasadh and Honey who were from the same hometown as I gave me a home vibe to the entire resort. They’d check with me multiple times daily regarding what I need and encourage me to participate in more activities within the resort. Beachball, gym and dancing at the bar are some of the striking features of the island too. If I were to suggest some improvements within the resort, it would be regarding the bar. The bar, with its less variety of cocktails and drinks, threw a dull light to the entire experience. The bar staff were not very friendly. Overall, Nakai Dhiggiri resort is a 10/10. As I said, I was stuck in paradise and it was amazzzzinnnngggg.
