After reading numerous reviews i was a bit sceptical but this hotel was great. Based in the beautiful centre of Vianden, its location is spot on.  The reception was good and i could leave my bag as i arrived early. Great clean room, i could not fault it.

Great place to stay

Booked a double luxury room and paid EUR206. We were given a small room (number 23) on 2nd floor. An ugly and noisy mobile a/c was cooling down the room which otherwise would have been very hot. There was no key and somebody’s toiletries were still there. The room is worth EUR80. It’s a big rip off, owner doubles the price or more on busy weekends. The Portuguese manager running the restaurant was very correct, apologised and refunded our money and even offered us free dinner. We ended up sharing a room with our friend at Hotel Belle Vue, at EUR150 it was twice as good.

We booked the hotel before the pandemische started for 2 couples. Because of the pandemic the hotel was closed. We tried to change the dates to a later time. They denied this and did not answer telephone calls or mails to talk about the subject. This is not acceptable even if there is a pandamic going on. You should answer phone calls and mail. And not lie to the Booking office

WHAT A SCAM

My wife and I booked the hotel due to the Luxembourg Government providing 50 Euro Vouchers to stay at Luxembourg hotels to help with drawing tourism into the hospitality sector due to Covid.   As residents we have been to Vianden many times and have even stayed in Vianden before but we want to use our government voucher and decided that we could not think of a more quaint place than Vianden.   Unfortunately after we booked the hotel and informed the hotel we would be using our voucher from the government, theh Luxembourg government put in some extremely restrictive measures on bars, restaurants and hotels.  We decided to go anyway since the voucher was going to expire in a month.   

The town was shuttered up for the most part,  there was zero interaction with the hotel other than them phoning me to give me an access pin to enter the hotel.     None of this was the fault of the hotel but realistically they should have just closed the hotel as well as the evening was literally an hours drive to stay in a nice room albeit cleaning could have been better.  A used blanket was waded up and thrown in the closet and that was not the best thing to see given the circumstances and threw into question how well the room had been cleaned.  

What made matters worse, we checked out at 10 am  exactly, no breakfast and no contact with anyone to find a parking ticket on the windshield.  Again, not the hotels fault but given the town was empty and there was plenty of parking would have thought I might be given a break.  It would be nice if the hotel would either tell we can park without getting ticketed or explain that after 0900 you will need to pay for parking.  Add this expense to the overall cost of the stay it just made a underwhelming stay that much worse.    

Will try the hotel again given different circumstances, hope next time is better

Scenic Town, Nice Room but COVID affected the stay

We had dinner at the Butcher’s daughter and were generally pleased with the service and the food. The restaurant sits on the river bank and it was really peaceful and had good views.

The waitress did not ask how well you wanted your meat cooked, and it was served rare to medium-rare. We had a beef tenderloin that was very good, and a t-bone steak that wasn’t as good. 

We missed a proper steak knife, and the t-bone had a lot of tendons making it difficult to eat. The fries that came with the latter was partly cold as it arrived. 

For dessert we ordered the apple pie, and we were very pleased with it. It was warm and had good flavors to it.

Dinner at the hotel restaurant

Absolutely appalled by this Hotel. In my opinion it should be closed down. Our room was the worst room I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. No toilet door ! And the toilet was visible from the room ! No curtains or net curtains so absolutely no privacy at all ! A disgraceful room . Breakfast was equally poor and the restaurant was simply filthy ! An utter disgrace ! The saving grace is that we stayed one night and the price was low...although there were much better hotels for slightly more. Should have stayed at the Victor Hugo over the road. Luckily we ate  there at lunch and dinner - which avoided a complete disaster .

EXTREMELY POOR QUALITY

We really enjoyed our stay at Auberge de l'Our. The room was small, but nice and clean. The bathroom was also very nice and clean, plus spacious.
The breakfast was fantastic, we did not miss anything, and the coffee was very good. They also had sparkling wine for the breakfast, that I really liked O:)
There is also water with lemon available at all times.

Great choice!

Surprisingly a very nice hotel located right on a river. Service was acceptable. Room was up to date and had a lot of space. Beakfast serbed left to be desired. A nice property to stay if you are driving thru.

Nice property

Abusive and inefficient staff with bad attitude. Waited a lot to place your order. Waiter still not focused on taking the order and playing on his phone. Once the order arrives, be prepared to eat not as a family but as the food is prepared and share with flies. So while we ate, our child was still waiting for his pizza. His pizza finally arrived but it was the wrong type of pizza. We finished our meal and the child is still waiting. I asked for the bill at the same time as my child's meal was finally served and shocked to see that they had made no accommodations for the bad service and charged for the child meal. I request that due to the long wait and bad service we should not be charged for the child's pizza. The waiter looked surprised and after checking with manager refused and still no apology for all the waiting around. I insisted on paying for the meal without the pizza and following that came a barrage of verbal abuse. Suddenly the waiter that could not speak English well,spoke the choicest of words describing us as shameful and shameless. When we spoke to the manager who did not speak English and explained through other people the issue, she reluctantly apologized while continuing to say that the waiter in question was a top class waiter. 
So top class waiter who fumbles your order, then proceeds to blame his colleagues for the mistake, does not apologise and then instead of accepting his mistake abuses clients in the presence of children for a 10 euro pizza- seems to me like deserves a medal!
