Souksomboun Hotel

We stayed here for three nights and found the room to be good enough for us. It has quite an odd collect ion of furniture! But bed was comfortable and shower was hot. Location is good on the river and for the main town. We didn't interact much with the staff but they were great when we checked in at 1am after a delayed bus.

Basic hotel

very large room good central location just needs some maintenance as getting rundown but a good cheap place to stay
next to walking street so handy for food good location to see the town nice view over the river

I booked this hotel to stay in the old building but I was given a motel-style room beside it. It was huge but not what I wanted. Besides, it was rather dark. You also needed the curtains to have some privacy. There were no mosquito nets or bars (my window could be opened from the outside because one side didn't lock properly). The toilet was leaking.

Sometimes a weak wifi signal was available in the room. In general, the wifi in the lobby was slow.

I left early one morning and when I came back in the evening they had left a plastic bag outside with more bottles of water and soap.

Location is good by the river and near the town center. In the evening there were some food stalls beside the hotel and some children attractions.

Not the best place

We didn't stay in the main building but beside it. It was a Motel kind of room.

The room was big and clean. The bathroom ok, with hot shower.
But it was strange to open the door on a parking lot and we didn't feel really secured. 
No wifi on the room, only in the lobby

Although the staff isn't friendly at all. Every time you ask something it is like you are bothering them.

Beside this, the location was ok, in front of the river. The only thing, there is a Chinese restaurant in front of the hotel, with live music that we could hear in the room. 

Weird hotel

We're really disappointed by the shabbiness and lack of maintenance. Photos did look better on our booking website.
A big piece of wall is lacking because of humidity in the bedroom, unrepaired.
Nude cables right next to the shower... 
Mosquitoes in the room as the mosquito net on the window is broken on several places.
Leaks of water in the bathroom coming from the toilets.
Inexisting wifi connexion... Really bad. 
Pros are the queen-size bed and A/C.
Ah, and let me not forget : they tried to rip us off when we asked to do our laundry ! They were asking 3,000 kip per cloth (even for a pair of socks!!) !! Forget about it.

Disappointing

The karaoke bar next to the hotel seems out of commission. Had a good night, but take your mosquito net as there are a few mosquitoes. The funiture looks neglected and the showe was spraying everywhere but my body. Seriously, how expensive is a new 'made in china' showerhead? Had to pay up front as well 100k. Would not go again.
