This is a great hotel from which to access the Akakura ski resort. Truly ski in/ski out. Arriving back at the hotel on the run past the Bear cafe (highly recommended also) my skis literally came to rest against the front step.
Also just a short 100m walk to the ski hire shops (Myoko Sports very good) and main Street of restaurants and convenience stores.
Vegan breakfast highlights were always the home made juice and freshly baked bread. Pick up some bananas from the shop to add to your porridge maybe and some milk for the otherwise black coffee.
I would also strongly recommend a taxi over to the Suginohara ski field for a day. Really long runs there serviced by an excellent gondola and bubble lift to the top. There is a bus but it got pretty crowded on the 3:30 home - great business for the bus company at 1,000 yen a pop.
Liam and Lewis were great hosts, organising restaurant bookings for our party of 16 and also taxis.
The in house onsens (single person unless it’s someone you’re really friendly with!) also worthy of a mention.

A.I.R. Myoko family visit

Great place to stay, relax and ski! First time in Myoko, we enjoyed it, Liam's was a great host.

The inside looked so much better than the outside. The Onsen was really nice and everything is very japanese styled, more traditional and very beautiful. 

The breakfast is vegan, as a meat eater I found the food still pleasing and with some variety. Healthiest i've been in years.

There is a small-ish dry room and a ski rack outside.

The hotel is abit hard to get to, you've got to walk pass the slopes to get there, in thick powder it might be even harder. 

Truely ski in and out, with enough speed you could even ski right up to the front door

Japanese styled hotel

Hotel A.I.R. Myoko is ideally located between two ski runs and close to the base of the lifts. It is a two minute walk to the Main Street, yet very quiet at night. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. It is very evident that the fit out was a labour of love. 
The food is amazing and I would definitely recommend enjoying the degustation dinner. The hosts passion for locally sourced produce and matching wines is reflected in the quality of the food and drinks. 
I highly recommend staying here and enjoying the hospitality provided by Liam, Nana and all the friendly staff. 

Amazing hosts and delicious food. 

We stayed at A.I.R Myoko over New Years 2019/2020. The hotel itself was beautiful, with so much thought and detail into the design, incorporating so many local elements. 

All the staff were incredible, with special mentions to Nana and Liam who were incredible hosts. The restaurant was amazing, highly recommend getting in touch ahead of your stay to book in as it draws many diners from over the area. 

The location was incredibly convenient, easy walk to the restaurants and ski lifts.

Incredible stay!

We loved staying at AIR and definitely didn’t stay for long enough (we only had 2 nights here). The whole place is beautifully finished and the rooms are really comfortable & spacious compared to the size of rooms we had elsewhere in Japan. Would definitely recommend having breakfast included, with a few things to choose from that are all beautifully made and presented. 

The degustation dinner we had at AIR was so incredible with various courses including a range of local Japanese produce. Each course was fresh and delicious which we paired with amazing local wine. All the staff are super friendly and are passionate about good food. If you appreciate design you will also love the interiors! 

The location was also great being so close to ski hire and the main town strip / as well as having the option to ski in and out onto the Akakura Onsen ski field.

Thank you Nana and Liam for having us, we’ll be back for sure!

AIR Myoko Stay

Really loved staying in the mountain village of Akakura and the beautiful AIR Myoko. The room was very nice with traditional style and modern facilities (and large by Japanese standards). It was great to have an onsen at the hotel and were felt very welcome. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful Mountain Escape

AIR Myoko is an amazing experience, ski-in, ski-out and two runs right there. A short walk to ski hire and restaurants in the village as well as in house breakfast and degustation plant-based dinner in the evenings is a fantastic added option, highly recommended: some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. At breakfast there includes homemade sourdough bread: gloriously crispy on the outside. 
I really enjoyed the in-house timber onsen bath after a day's activities with the healing mountain waters while you watch skiers come down the slope!
The staff is extra helpful and friendly and passionate about good food and great skiing, speaking English and Japanese. Nice house-dog Tetsu too.
There is a range of tatami rooms very Japanese with special timber bathrooms. This is a small lodge so you feel very well looked after.

Total experience of Japanese atmosphere and comfort.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel that has been upgraded with warmth and charm. The room I stayed in had a wonderful sense of peace and calm that combined japanese aesthetic with the sort of conveniences that middle to high end travellers have come to expect. Great food and hosts, they can't do enough for you. Loved it

Beaiutiful modern japanese aesthetic and food with ski in - ski out

There's not much to fault about this place. Highlights were the restaurant headed by a very talented chef. The food is fresh and a great mix of Japanese tradition with a modern take. The hotel and restaurant rivals that of a Michelin star.
