Very cosy Ryokan. Very well located to enjoy all of Kusatsu's onsen experience on foot. Once at home, a brilliant meal is served to you right in your room. A full Japanese culinary experience and so delicious. And easy access to private or shared bathing facilities downstairs. Very clean and beautifully decorated throughout with fresh flower arrangements. Highly recommended.

This is my second trip to Kusatsu Onsen.
The Ryokan is hide from the main street and we took time for a while to find where it is. actually i found out later there is a shortcut to walk to Yubatake area.
So, on the late March the weather was very cold with snow. The Ryokan its self is fine.
Our room is spectacular with Japanese style, and toilet inside. ( many ryokan in japan you have to share with other guest)  
It was stunning  with the view, we got the room by road side and absolutely worth your money. 
I would recommend this place to you.
And enjoy your wonderful trip at Kusatsu as we did. 

The hotel provided two private onsen baths that we could use for free.  My family thus could had onsen together.  However, the water was a bit hot during our stay (perhaps during summer time) so my 4-year-old son refused to enter the bath (he could enter the bath at another cooler onsen).   The dinner and breakfast were served at room.  There was a variety of food served.  The taste was ok but not particularly impressive.  The staff spoke limited English but they were very nice.  The hotel was a not a new one but the stay was comfortable for me.

Staff were helpful and friendly, but we only spoke in Japanese so not sure if they accommodate guests from abroad very often. Food was ample and tasty (traditional Japanese foods) and served in the privacy of the room.Pillows are traditional Japanese style (small and somewhat hard) so I would recommend bringing your own pillow if you prefer a larger and softer pillow.Website is not clear, but rooms have sinks and toilets, but the bath (onsen style) is shared. Ample parking and great location.

We stayed only one night in Jan 2017 during Chinese New Year. 

The location is not far from bus terminal about 5-10 minutes by walk; however, on the way to Tamura is not easy for who has big luggage because the road is quite steep. 

The room we stayed was Japanese style room (tatami) without bath/shower room. When we went the other room for dinner, the staffs make the bed for us, very nice. And dinner was very tasty.

Hot spring is available 24 hours. The quality is really good, highly recommended.

Tamura provided free rental yukata for female. Since our visit time was winter, we did not consider wearing yukata and going around Kusatsu. It may be good when visiting in summer.

Really loved this place - it was my first time visiting an onsen and everything was neat and clean, with complimentary mochi and tea. It seems quite traditional, and the onsen/bathing area is small but it wasn't a problem as there weren't many guests at the time. 
The dinner was also fantastic, my first time having such a traditional Japanese dinner.
With falling snow as a backdrop and having it located so close to the town centre, it's really worth travelling to Kusatsu and staying here, especially when you're on a budget.

Lovely service, very nice and cosy

Rooms are pretty basic - dated but clean. Went in early October 2014, there was no air-conditioning, only a heater, and it was unbearably hot. I had to open the window, but it was raining non-stop (typhoon approaching!). The ryokan is about a 10-15min walk from the bus terminal, although it seemed like an eternity due to the uphill slope and rain.

My favorite part of the accommodation was the onsen, after soaking my skin just felt soo smooth! If you book from the ryokan's homepage, you can get a free drink during dinner (not sure if they're still having this promotion).
