Vatican Luxury Home

My family of 4 rented out 2 rooms for 3 night stay after coming in from Tuscany by train.  The place was close to St Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica as well as walking distance to the nearby train stop.  Restaurants and stores are close, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.  Good location to rent out electric bike to see the city.  

We were charged for arriving one hour late to check in and it is not written or made reference to that in the booking.com page, it seemed like a scam and they sent us an email a few days before arriving at the hotel about the collection of a fine for carrying a little late

They have snacks and fruit, water and coffee available 24 hours a day and they have a small breakfast in a confectionery that is excellent. It is a 10 minute walk to the Vatican. recommendable

Excellent location

Vatican Luxury Rooms are conveniently located within walking distance from the Vatican and have numerous reasonably priced restaurants nearby. Buses to central Rome are frequent from the bus stop adjacent to the apartment building.

However, if it is luxury accommodation you are seeking then this venue cannot be regarded as luxurious. The positives are, it’s clean, serviced daily and clean towels are provided each day. Staff are only on site for a few hours in the morning. 

Our room was very small with the basics you would find in any guest house. The bathroom was small with the door less than a metre from the bed. The decor was dark green and gave off a gloomy appearance. Off concern was that on entering the room you need to negotiate two steps to enter the room. Similarly access the bathroom you also lookp require to climb two steps. The first step is 30 cm from the edge of the bed. 

Luxury Vatican Rooms provide a self service breakfast which is limited in choice.  The breakfast room is small and basic. 


Did not meet expectations 

We rented this place for in early-mid August 2019.

The good:

AC cools the room quickly, and this is important as the electricity (hence AC) does not work when away from the room.

Internet connectivity was excellent - no issues whatsoever

Shower head - amazing! Strong water pressure leads to a very pleasant shower experience.

The bed is reasonably comfortable - no real issues with the mattress

Very quiet..... at least during our stay!

The concerns:

There is no front  service desk, therefore no one to address concerns should there be any (noise, toilet issues, misplaced key, item missing from the room, etc.) We were lucky in that we didn't have any but I can think of a number of circumstances that could occur, that would require a timely response. I am just not sure how quick issues could be addressed at night.  

The kitchen - no air flow. It had a musty smell. Carried enough food items for a basic breakfast. 

Pillows - very thin. It's time to replace them!

The room refrigerator barely worked. It couldn't really cool down much anything even if left overnight.

The Location: within walking distance to the Vatican and not too far from "Ancient Rome". A quick bus ride will get you "downtown" in no time. Buses run regularly and are within 100m or so from the hotel. We used this mode of transportation and it worked well for us.

It's ok, but things could go sideways!

There was nothing luxurious about the suite, lest to say hardly did I see any humans till I checked out.
Found a chit with a number to call and the lady remotely opened the door to the apartment type complex and then tried to figure the way to the next door, which again was.opened remotely before I was led to a hall with the key of the room in the door. 
The room was very small with hardly space for a queen size bed and a small toilet. But one good thing it had a bidet.

The suite is located right opposite to a super market and enough restaurants for a bite. The breakfast served is cold and again it's a self service with no assistance.

Vatican luxury suite

Nice place, great air con compared to other places I have used. It is also very close to Vatican. The 916 bus gets you into town and is easy to use. My only complaint is the wifi is rubbish and cuts out often.

Nice B&B

Room was ok but was not what we expected by the photos.  It was supposed to include breakfast but we were never offered or informed of it and there was only 1 small table with 2 chairs in a small lobby.  On our last night  when we returned in the early afternoon from our Vatican tour, we discovered that the toilet paper was never replaced and we were left with about 1/3 roll to last till the next day.  I contacted the owner by email, and was informed that he had left for the day and would not return till approx. 9am he next morning.  When I questioned what we were supposed to do, I was instructed to go to the 24 hour supermarket down the street and purchase a roll.  There was also a coffee pot in the room but it appeared the aluminum was coming off and we could not use it.  The owner did offer to book us an airport transfer the next morning at a rate he stated was much less than everyone else charges.  We found a note on our bed with the time of pick up and that it would be 55 euro.  This was more than the flat rate of 48 euro by Roma Taxis.  We ended up finding a shuttle service online that gave us a flat rate of 32 euro.  Since I was unable to make calls we could not call and cancel the original high priced shuttle.  I did receive an email from he owner of Vatican Luxury Suite stating that our charge card will be billed for the 55 euro although we did not use the service.  Needless to say I notified my credit card company about this.  This was our first time in Italy.
