The positives first. Clean room, reasonably comfortable bed, good location in that it is a good launching pad for Cinque Terra and it's next door to the railway station.
However, on arrival we were asked to pay for the 5 nights we had booked, which was fair enough, but we were told they could only accept cash as the credit card machine was "broken". We had to walk to an ATM to draw the cash. It crossed my mind as to how many others have had to pay cash!!! Breakfast was at a nearby café where they obviously have a contract. The selection was average and we were permitted only one cup of tea or coffee. Extra was additional cost. They had an enclosed canopy at the front to accommodate more tables and chairs in which people were smoking freely around us. There was no reception desk or any obvious point of contact with hotel staff to seek advice etc. In fact we never saw anyone from the hotel during our stay. This place is average at best.

Poor Choice

Very close to the train station, convient for visiting Cinque Terre or travelling by train. Easy to do day trips from here to Pisa and Florence. The room was great, lots of space and had everything I needed. Felt like home and I ended up staying 4 nights in total. Would recommend to anyone planning to do Cinque Terre and there's a great restaurant you must try between there and the station!

Recommended, would stay here again.

Firstly, we stayed here as a couple with a tour group, so we can't actually comment on value for money from a cost perspective. However, our initial impression was actually a positive one as the rooms appeared to be decorated in a contemporary way, a small fridge in the room was helpful, and wifi was included. 

Our first problem however was the extremely uncomfortable bed/pillows ( our double bed was two unmatched twins pushed together - one saggy, one hard!). 

Worst of all, soon after falling asleep, the hotel manager barged into the room with another key, showing a tourist group the room. My husband jumped out of bed and yelled, the manager seemed surprised and left. Then about an hour later, it happened again!!!! This time another tourist speared in our room, having let himself in with another key!?!

After more yelling to get these strangers out of our room, we eventually got a restless nights sleep. Upon complaining the next day, we received nothing more than a sorry excuse about a miscommunication between hotel staff. This was so appalling to us.

The only 'compensation' was to move us to another room which had a slightly more comfortable twin/double bed setup, but we still felt no assurance that management would get it right about who was in which room!!
We would not go back there!!!!

Poorly managed hotel, regrettable experience.

It was very convenient to find.  It is literally just down the road a bit from the train station.  Paolo and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, giving us all sorts of tips and local knowledge.  My (adult) daughter loved the purple room with its modern decor and street views through the citrus trees. The shower was a little on the small side, but that is the only thing we could find fault with. The light Italian breakfast was about a 5 minute walk away, but that didn't matter, because it was on our way to catch the boat to Cinque Terre.  It was very convenient to be able to leave our bags there as well, because our train wasn't until later in the day.
We stayed two nights and would thoroughly recommend staying here.

We'd stay here again.

We stayed at Tre Fre for a night in mid November. The hostess gave us a below-low-season rate because of heavy rain the whole area had been having. The private double we had was very clean and modern, with a heated bathroom floor, free wi-fi and lots of free info sheets on Cinque Terre. Italian breakfast was included. The hostess was helpful in pointing out a couple good spots for dinner, groceries, etc. High standard of room and service for the price, and in respect to other places we stayed at in Italy. Highly recommended if looking for some privacy and a bit of affordable luxury!
