The hostel is set out in apartments with two bedrooms with en suite shower and toilet, and a kitchen/sitting room.We were lucky to have an apartment to ourselves as there was no one in the other bedroom.
The apartment was clean, the beds comfortable and the kitchen well enough appointed for our needs. One drawback was that the bedside lamps were not very bright so that it wasn't easy to read in bed.
There is a Clona Milk factory opposite the hostel but we didn't find it too noisy as the bedrooms are at the back of the building. We were also on the top floor, which may have helped.
All in all, we were very pleased with the accommodation and plan to stay there next time we are on holiday in Clonakilty.
No soap/shampoo provided, but this is a hostel so we didn't expect any. This is reflected in the price.

Got booked in easily and the room was perfectly fine. The only problem I had was with the shower and how to get it working, but then I always have this problem with showers in Ireland. Checking in and out was easy and the room was fine. I had no trouble getting to sleep. All fine.

Stayed here with friends for 3 nights.
Apartment was large. Well equipped kitchen. It's a little dated but I honestly thing that's reflected in the price.
You're on the doorstep of the main street.

There is a plant across the road but we couldn't hear it at night in our bedroom.

The owner obviously uses the old way of doing things as she came around to collect the money. 
I've no problem with this at all but perhaps explaining this after reserving might prevent some negative remarks.

Overall clean spacious and very reasonably priced accommodation in a very convenient location. I would certainly return if I was with a group (ie that you are sharing an apartment with people you know)

Accommodation was central for the town.No towels supplied.In need of some renovations lot of space wasted.Management should be checking apartments before tenants use.Electricity is charged over and above rental charges.Bed was comfortable and linen was clean In this day and age consideration should be given to having wi-fi as we had to go to hotel to connect

Family weekend

Unfortunately normally I’m not that picky with accommodation but this tops it all. I have stayed in 3rd world places that have had more to offer than this place. 
 After a very long road trip, and it also being at St Stephens day, this was the only thing available and I wish I slept in the car... 
They send you a nice message with directions to get to the building however you must call up and they come to you, the thing that annoyed me was the lack Of communication between the owners as I had booked on bookings.com and paid for the night and The woman seemed a bit confused at first and told me I had to pay again and that my room was not ready... She called me back to confirm that was indeed ready and that she will be at the lodge shortly.
 (I didn’t have to pay as I showed my receipt from Bookings.com) 
The common area seems very clean and tidy, I didn’t use these areas because it just felt really cold and the complimentary WiFi does not work. 
The room however was possibly the worst I have stayed at ever! I was informed that the room was ready and clean but it certainly was not, there was a used towel hung up behind the door and someones hair still all over the shower walls. The room was very outdated the cupboard was broken, no tv. The bed was terrible, the mattress was probably from the 1800’s or whenever the lodge was built, it was hard and I hardly slept. The  bed also rolled around at a slight sudden movement and I woke up in the middle
Of the night to had found my bed had moved towards the window. 
Also when I woke I found BLOODSTAINS on the quilt cover that was not mine or my partners! I think they have blind people cleaning their rooms because this was absolutely unhygienic and bloody terrible. 
The curtains are dusty and stained.
The bathroom is absolutely terrible as I said, hair in the shower, there was hardly any pressure and all to have a decent shower and I ended up using baby wipes , there was mould in the corner that’s in desperate need to be cleaned, no floor mats and  no basic necessities like soap, the walls in the bathroom are stained as well . also you can hear everything like people walking around and in the next room.
This place has so much potential to be an
Amazing place if the owners invested in it. 
Do not recommend! 

A BIG FAT NO! AVOID!!!!

Prior to arrival I confirmed our booking and its location of Clogheen Village by phone and email. On the day of arrival (9th September),we rang numerous times while travelling there but there was no answer.  
When we arrived at Clogheen Village there was no representative there so after consistently calling we eventually spoke to a woman who advised us we were at the wrong location and were in fact staying at their sister company location  Long Quay. She did not apologies for the fact we had been advised to travel to Clogheen, instead she was quiet rude and obnoxious on the phone. 
We then travelled several kilometres back into Clonakilty to Long Quay where we were met by what only can be described as one of rudeness most unprofessional staff members I have ever met. It appeared to be an inconvience to her to meet us and hand over the keys. Her manner was appalling and when we voiced our complaints on the accommodation error she was not apologetic in the slightest, instead she treated not to leave us into the apartment. AGAIN error with accommodation was theirs, not ours. 
The apartments are quite old and out dated. There were no towels, soap, ironing board. Some of the rooms had no pillow cases. 
We had 3 apartment and in all 3, the doors were a bit flimsy, not closing properly. In apt 28, the door handle fell off, trapping 2 of the girls inside for sometime. Luckily for them there was someone else in the apartment to leave them out. Very dangerous. Some of the furnitire is very old and unsightly with some items actually damaged. 

The positive side to these apartments is the location. They are very close to the main part of the town but just to let any light sleepers know, they are also located beside a refrigerated truck yard so you can hear noise from there throughout the night.
