The stay was very comfortable and rooms were very spacious with a balcony and work desk. Wifi is poor but I had carried my own dongle. We went with our pet Indy dog. Even though listing says pet friendly they are not. First they will deny and then if they agree will give you tons of restrictions including dog shouldn’t bark at all. Otherwise the stay was good with access to beach and restaurants nearby. Only two restaurants deliver in Zomato so you are better off getting food by your own from the many options available. Parking is in tie up with another hotel as this hotel doesn’t have parking space. It’s a furlong from the hotel quite large and secure

Pleasant stay but not pet friendly

We were really pleased with our stay in Hotel Daphne. We took a family room on the second floor. The room was huge, clean and tastefully decorated. It is also very very green. The best part is that the manager goes the extra mile to help each of his guests and they are very very trustworthy. We will definitely like to come back.

Extremely helpful people and beautiful surroundings

Very clean, friendly staff, tastefully appointed rooms a lovely green central courtyard...Our room had beautiful antique furniture, a working air conditioner and comfortable beds. Central location in a quiet by lane.

Hotel Daphne

We stayed at Daphne for 1N and the stay was very pleasant. Mr Parthy was helpful from the time I contacted him for booking until we left from the guesthouse.
The ground-floor room that we stayed in was spacious and clean, had mosquito net,ac was working fine. The house has a lot of greenery and so there are mosquitos too. 
The bathroom was basic and does need some some essentials like the jet spray,toilet paper.
The guesthouse is at 5mins walk from the beach, shore temple. The other main sightseeing places are also within 6km radius from the guesthouse. There are cafes and small restuarants on the street adjacent to the  place. 
For South Indian veg meal, you will have to go to the main road which is again at walking distance from the guesthouse. 
Would stay again when we visit Mahabalipuram.



Good budget accomodation

We had a lovely stay here in the delightful small town of Mahabalipuram. We were right at the top in one of the best rooms, large and airy with balcony. The bed was comfortable and we had plentiful hot water. The location was great and just round the corner from Joe’s cafe which does a great breakfast and very good cafe. Daphne’s offers a laundry service as well. The WiFi could be a bit touch and go at the top of the hotel where we were, but we tended to go to Joe’s cafe if we needed a reliable connection. I think it was better on the lower floors of the hotel.

Great value

Our large ground floor room was clean and benefitted from a mosquito net. Breakfast was on the roof and tasty. However, people chatted with doors open until 1.30 am, and their voices echoed loudly around the courtyard, preventing sleep.

Relaxed but noisy

We came here expecting a good stay as recommended by lonely planet. The actually building itself is nice but unfortunately bed bugs meant a restless night. Also the staff were rarely around reception to help. I wouldn’t come here again.

Bed bugs

Really liked this place. Bit of greenery in the courtyard, and very quiet, but at the same time perfectly located for the strip of restaurants etc outside.
Staff very helpful and nice. Mr Parthi organised a taxi to Pondicherry at an amazing rate as they were dropping someone off and would've returned empty otherwise.
Nice big room at a good rate with lots of shelves and a table.
Full mosquito net in my room too, which is a must for me. Note that not all rooms have a net over the bed.
Bathroom a bit basic but fine. Wi-Fi slightly slow but worked in room. OK breakfast service on the roof terrace.
Quite a few backpackers here, so one of the better places for meeting people maybe. A few communal areas to mix in, but not widely used and watch the mosquitoes...
Recommended. Would return.

There is no hot water in the bathroom, you have to fill up the bucket in the hallway, but it was okay. I was so happy that I could sleep in a clean room!!!

Perfect -Clean sheets and clean room

I did not stay at this hotel but I had wanted to.In mid December I telephoned this hotel with a view to making a booking for two nights in early January and spoke to a Mr Parthi.When I gave him the details he replied that he was too busy to deal with me at that moment but requested that I send him an SMS.He promised to get back to me later that evening.By lunchtime the next day I had heard nothing and telephoned him again.This time he replied....that he was too busy but promised to get back to me later that afternoon.By nightfall I still had heard nothing and I telephoned him a third time.This time he replied-yes,you've guessed it-that he was too busy to deal with me.I realised then that Mr Parthi didn't want to help me at all and I proceeded to make a booking elsewhere.This was done with the speed and efficiency that I had expected.Some weeks later I telephoned Mr Parthi to complain and he maintained that I had telephoned him only once.NOT TRUE-I had telephoned him thrice AND had sent an SMS.Perhaps Mr Parthi didn't want me to stay at the hotel....Maybe managment would like to look into this.
