Hvammsgerdi Bed and Breakfast

We loved our stay in this charming guest house! There are only seven rooms, and ours was very clean and comfortable. There were only two of us, but ours had a bunkbed, so it could’ve been a family room sleeping four. The bathroom was spacious and clean, even though it is a shared bathroom. There is a nice dining room and living room area for any of the guests to enjoy as well. We had breakfast there one of our two mornings, which is extremely delicious. I was disappointed that we had to pay about $18 extra, but it was good food. There were fresh eggs from the farm, meats and cheeses, bread, jam, coffee, tea, orange juice, and other things I’m forgetting. The owner was so kind and even made us sandwiches for lunch with the leftovers. All of the hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, and they were in communication with this ahead of time to make sure we were set. It was a fairly reasonably priced accommodation for Iceland. We loved seeing the various farm animals roaming in the yard, including chickens, sheep, and a dog. Everyone takes their shoes off when entering the building, which adds to the cleanliness. This is a few minutes outside of Vopnafjördur and it was a bit hard to fine, but we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and seclusion. There is not too much in this region in general. We enjoyed using it as a base to visit a variety of attractions around Myvatn. The Wi-Fi worked well, though I do wish the curtains kept out a bit more of the light. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.
