An idyllic farmhouse, conveniently located in the Golden circle. It’s a 1.5 hour drive from Reykjavik, 35 minutes drive from Thingevellir National Park on one side and  is about 20 minutes from the Geysir (hot springs)on the other side, and the Gullfoss (waterfall) a little further after that.  

Lovely restaurants nearby too - Mika (good food, but fully booked. We ended up with take-away) and Fridheimar (which we didn’t go to but great reviews everywhere).

The farmhouse is very cosy, with clean rooms and a very homely feel to it. You have to take off your outdoor shoes at the entrance but there’s a basket full of slippers to use inside the house. The view from the sitting area is straight out of a painting. There’s a little area with things on sale in one corner. The walls are adorned with family knick-knacks, pictures and souvenirs. So pretty!
The rooms are fully equipped with everything you need- we did have to ask for a portable heater as there wasn’t any in the room and it was a bit cold. But after about an hour or so with the heater. the room was nice and toasty. 

The kitchen is fully equipped. We got take away from a local restaurant (Mika) and ate in the kitchen, which was really well stocked. Since we were two families with kids, this worked really well for us. 
Breakfast is like at home, fresh and seasonal.

The host Magnus is a very discreet gentleman and was kind enough to answer all our questions. We were lucky to meet his beautiful dog, Thea (if I remember her name correctly).

We loved this place and when we go back to Iceland (which we totally look forward to), this place will definitely be on our itinerary.

The best location for a Golden circle stay!

The farmhouse is lovely, sitting along a river, decorated with lots of family knickknacks, sitting areas, big kitchen and breakfast in greenhouse areas under grapevines. Delicious breakfast, full kitchen use for dinners. And we got to see the Northern Lights out back!

Lovely farmhouse B&B with full kitchen access

Really enjoyed this Farmhouse Lodge conveniently located off the Golden Circle, but with the feel of remoteness.  Great setting with a river in the backyard.  Seating areas in the kitchen are nice, staff is very helpful.  We had a family room for 4 and it was great to have 2 separate bedrooms.   Definitely recommend staying here if looking for a place off the Golden Circle.

Wonderful spot right off the Golden Circle

Convenient to Golden Circle, lovely views, good sized room, very nice breakfast in great breakfast room, kitchen to us, and relatively close to restaurants (very good one 5 miles away). Owner very nice and accommodating (when asked if he had any beers, and gave me three of his own). Really wish the farmhouse would have info on what the farm produces and the 20 horses on site. Also a great hot tub overlooking a river and great views.

Outstanding in All Ways

Nice, cozy farmhouse stay in a great location
Our room was simple, but nice and comfortable with a beautiful river view. There was only one chair in the room, but there is a comfortable, common sitting area, and a kitchen for use. There was a hot tub, but we did not use it.  We had a very nice breakfast the next morning in a warm winter garden with two beautiful grape trees with very healthy grapes. There was no dinner option, but we had a dinner at Mika’s in nearby Reyhold. The hosts were also very nice.

Cozy farmhouse stay in a nice location

The place is only few kilometers from the main road on the way to Gaysir. The room was basic and not so big, but very clean and enough for what a traveler rewuires. 
The breakfast was good and as was the hospitality. Nice scenery outside. 

Nice B&B

Nice bed and breakfast. Plenty of room. Great host. You will need a 4 wheel or all wheel drive to get there, but its worth it.  About 1 hour and 45 min. drive from Reykavik. Good location to see geysir and Gullfoss water fall. drove to Vik. one day.

Very nice bed and breakfast

Árbakki Farmhouse Lodge is our favourite place to stay in Iceland. There is a warm atmosphere in the whole lodge. The rooms are very clean with comfortable beds. The kitchen is very well equipped and you are free to use everything. The breakfast is simple but very tasty. Magnus is a great host and likes to talk about everything.

Here for 1 night not much time to explore but love this place when first step into the house and room. It’s feel like I’m home with clean and tidy living room and bedroom. The kitchen is clean with warm morning welcome from the owner whose prepare the simple and delicious breakfast. Drive with less than 30mins to Gullfoss and Geysir. 

Cosy and warm lodge to stay.

This farmhouse has charm in spades!  Lovely view from our room and Oksana was so accommodating. Met lots of other travelers and enjoyed the well appointed breakfast in the sunny breakfast room.  
We enjoyed the hot tub after a busy day which a great way to relax before bed. 
Our shower temperature did not work correctly and the water was so hot it I couldn’t wash my hair. The first night the heat was on too high and you cannot control it in your own room. We opened windows but the summer light made it hard to sleep. The curtains didn’t do an adequate job for the summer light so we used our sleep masks. 
The location was great and we ate at the farmhouse/creamery down the street and highly recommend Mika nearby. Overall this is a great find and having a house like feel as a break from hotel rooms was fantastic.
