We sleep at the hotel Aurora for 2 nights. If you are a group of bagpacker it is the best place, it is really cheap and the room was really clean. You can arrive at any time of night which is really helpful for the ones arriving by night bus. 

Best place for bag packer 

Lots of street and bar noise from 6am-1am for rooms in the front. (slatted windows = no noise insulation); large open vent hole from bathroom to hallway meant I heard everything from hall too. The toilet had no seat and a broken handle. No hot water at 9am.   ½ in. gap at bottom between door frame and wall. Mattress was very firm; one bed had no top sheet but a light bedspread. One of the pillows was quite comfy. Quite clean except for specks of peeling ceiling paint, great AC, good wifi, cheap price, nice view (though door to balcony was broken), friendly staff. I moved out after one night to get some quiet.

Cheap, but they should really fix the place up

You get what you pay for. For me I could deal with the lack of welcome when arriving,  the room with no hot water and the noise, but it had TV and private bathroom for $25 for 3 nights. You can't grumble for that price. 
What peed me off was the tour agency within the hotel (Enrique) that blatantly lied and cheated me with the Ixpanpul canopy and skywalk tour. You just don't expect that from a company when you're staying at the hotel as a guest. But after complaining loudly in the street, I managed to get what I paid for. Oh and the pick up bus was an hour and 15 mins late! I was told don't worry, just wait, they're eating breakfast! 
And then there was no electricity for approximately 2 nights and there was absolutely no apology or compensation. the power went out for part of the street but they didn't have a back up generator! Appalling service. So no WiFi which was frustrating.
 Appears to be young teens running the show and no manager around when this was a big issue that needed dealing with. I'd stay elsewhere or just make sure you have a torch as you can't rely on your phone's torch if it has a dead battery which you can't charge.

Okay but watch out for the power cuts!!

Terrible experience! We booked a room with lake view and Aircon. The first night they told us the Aircon was not included and we had to pay extra for it. The second day, we came back from Tikal and found out they moved our bags to a room with not lake view and not Aircon. This was due to a leak in the toilet. While they told us about this "inconvenience" new guest were being checked in in a room with lake view! Hotel is so noisy that you won't sleep at all, toilet is dirty, lack of maintenance since years. Literally everything you touch is broken, from the curten to handles. Trust me spend hundred of extra quetzales and choose another place , you won't regret it. Also laundry was supposed to be 40but they asked as for 70

in order to enjoy Flores Avoid this Hotel!

Horrible. Dirty, bedsheets were old, pillows nasty. The batheroom was tiny. No soap, only one towel. Stay away

The room got sold to us with air conditioning and it was not working. The front desk staff told us that we had to pay an extra for it. He wanted to deal us the a/c to make extra money on us. Our room was simple...but not really clean. We paid for two nights and left after one because it was so bad...we couldn’t get a refund. If only the staff at the desk was nice, but it wasn’t the case. Wouldn’t recommand it at all.

A very bad experience

One of the worst hostels I stayed in. Too many bunks in a TINY room, I had to ask twice for sheets, no internet in the room, the mattress is a joke and the bathroom has no ceiling so that you hear everything at anytime.

- The price. If you only care about the price, then this is your place. If you can afford anything else, then go for anything else. 

CONs
- Nasty kitchen. Really gross 
- The bathroom smelled. That made the whole room smell. 
- Very bad WiFi. 
- We had a problem with electricity and WiFi in our room. We asked the owner for help, he didn’t solve the issue and instead told us that “we paid for the room. Anything else was a free and not compulsory service”. 

EXTRA
They have a travel agency in the hotel called Maya tours. Don’t use it. They overcharge and they will be very rude if you say anything about it.
