Meganisi Blue Villa

Went to Lefkada with Ionian and Aegean Island Holidays. The organisation was faultless - super BA charts flight and someone to meet us and help pick up the hire car at Preveza. Easy drive down to the villa on Lefkada (a causeway meant that no ferry trip necessary). The villa was beautiful- brand new fixtures and fittings and lots of thoughtful touches. The rep from Ionian came round with a map and talked us through the sites and gave us some top tips about when to go to places to avoid the crowds. Only a short drive to a very large but popular and crowded beach backed by lots of bars and restaurants- would be nice for a young and lively crowd but we lreferred the more peaceful surroundings of Agios Nikitas- a lovely fishing town with lots of beachside tavernas and a little fleet of water taxis that take you around to a less busy, much more spectacular beach (Milos beach). The water is the most beautiful colour and clear and clean. Agios Nikitas is only about 5 mins drive from the villa and if you get there before 10, free parking is available. Neither the villa nor the local beaches are suitable for young children - the pool has no fencing and there are steep steps/drops around the house. The beaches on the west coast are exposed to the wind and shelve quite steeply. There were people there with children aged about 10 upwards but not many really little kids. I can’t recommend this tour operator highly enough - we had a fabulous time.
