My sister and I had a cheeky getaway in September to Kalamaki staying at the Cavo Doro hotel which is situated at the furthest away end of the resort as you approach from the airport. We weren’t sure about this as past holidays we’ve always been at the other end but we needn’t have worried, the beach area was just as beautiful if not better, being late in the season it was also much quieter.
The hotel itself was ok, pretty basic room, we shared a family room, nicely surprised that it had two bedrooms, one  had the air con, the other just two beds. Had to move a stool to act as a bedside table. No light switch near bed which was a pain. Small fridge, which kept coming open if you put a bottle of water in it. We were on the ground floor, in a separate block to the main hotel, with garden outside but not private. Beds were comfortable enough. Rooms were cleaned most days, towels changed once. No mirror in rooms, just one in bathroom. Shower was good, when you got used to it suddenly running cold for a second or two! Could have done with a couple of hooks or shelves to put stuff. 
The breakfast was ok, fruits,lots of cakes and breads, I had full English most days, on a small scale, the eggs were lovely. Coffee machine inadequate, fruit juice machine out of order until the last day. A very over zealous waiter snatching away your plate before you’ve finished, and actually hovering nearby waiting to grab your plate! We also felt like he was watching us   making sure we didn’t eat too much! Breakfast wasn’t an enjoyable experience because of him!
The pool area looked pretty at night, we only used it once as we prefer the beach. All in all the hotel was ok, very close to the beach which was great, once we got our rooms organised we had a lovely stay,  we went for a cheap last minute break and we had a really good time, just chilling on beach and having a few cocktails in the evenings, if you want party time come earlier in the year. Yes the hotel was basic but in no way did we let it spoil our holiday!

Stay here in September and it’s a dirty hotel with dirty rooms pool and in the hot tubs there was stagnant water
Complained and they refilled the go tubs but they didn’t work. Was reported to the rep along with a list of other issues and they tried to give us a bottle of wine which we gave to the cleaner 
Pools were dirty and had a scum across

Avoid

The hotel was really lovely with a great location but unfortunately the service was rather a dissappointment.  When we arrived we went to the bar for a beer and was told they had run out of glasses.  Nobody seemed to be sitting about drinking so i wonder why they had run out of glasses!!  First moring going for breakfast they had run out of cups/mugs and was told to use paper cups.  next morning they had run out of english breakfast tea bags and was told they had finished and to use earl grey (they are the same) apparently.  after a few day they run out of butter too.   When staff were asked about mugs, tea, butter they just shrugged and said finished...  The bar was usually closed by 8pm so if you wanted a drink before or after going out for dinner there was no chance.   I had read reviews about this hotel , not all good but thought I would give it the benefit, will not be returning here which is a shame, as location and hotel were very nice.

late summer holiday

After reading some of the latter comments on here we didn’t expect much in all honesty. Our experience of the hotel is that it was clean and not filthy like some of the comments claim. The staff were all pleasant enough and willing to help you. The rooms are modern, clean and the beds really comfortable. The pool area could do with a few finishing touches like plant pots and decorative pieces but it was clean as was the water itself. The breakfast was basic but all angles covered and certainly plentiful, the waiters in the breakfast area was polite and on the ball when you needed anything. Overall our experience at this hotel was a good one, the positioning of it was perfect for us as we love the old road end of Kalamaki and the beach was literally a 5 minute stroll away.

Not the Ritz but not worth the negative comments either

This hotel is ideal for couples,family,solo travelers.Three pools plus children’s.we stayed in 606,which had its own pool,plenty of sun beds,privacy on balcony.Beds comfortable,tea and coffee provided,cleaning,towels and sheets changed every 2 days at least.5 minutes to the beach.Fabulous restaurants all within 5 minutes of hotel,supermarket over the road from hotel.
Breakfast,loads of choice,This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in Kalamaki,and would definitely come again

Best location for beach and restaurants in old village

Really bad and untidy hotel, avoid this hotel.  The rooms are untidy and in poor condition.  Dirt everywhere, the washroom really dirty and moldy.  There is no hot water like sometimes and the pressure of the shower is so weak that the shower does not work.  The beds are inferior, used up.  Some insects came into the room at night and ate the residents, in the morning the whole body was full of itchy red bumps, both on me, my wife and the neighbors.  Breakfast bad and poorly organized, there was always some ending.  Staff rude and indifferent.  When leaving, they still demanded payment for dinner, which we hadn't ordered.  Accounting messed up.

Terrible hotel, dont go there

We were staying at a hotel that was worth zero stars. The room was supposed to be superior, but I don't know what would have made it superior. The room was worn out, dirty, broken, the coffee maker was dirty, the shower drain was clogged, and the shower walls were filthy. The walk to breakfast and the restaurant was about 50 meters across a field because we were in a separate building. The path went across a field that was also used by the shepherd's sheep, goats, chickens, and turkeys. Outside food or drinks were not allowed in the pool area, but there was no service available anyway. The pool was dirty and I didn't see it being cleaned once during the week. Likewise, the beach chairs and umbrellas were broken. The wooden decking around the pool had splinters that got stuck in our feet or hit our toes on screws. The stairs of the pool were loose and really dangerous. Do not, under any circumstances, book this hotel!
The staff mostly seemed tired and the famous Greek cheerfulness was not visible.

Disgusting hotel

I had been worried looking at previous reviews and unfortunately we experienced some of the same issues. 
We were in ‘executive wing’ which is an apartment block separate from the hotel that you have to either cross an uneven section of waste ground or go past ‘Biggies’ sports bar down an unlit track to get to. The rooms are good size but shoe signs of wear and tear with chipped tiles etc. It was reasonably clean and towels were changed most days. The sink is in the main room, not the bathroom which, unsure why. The shower was either strong but scolding or weak but u you oh could stand under it. There is also a drain next to the toilet that smells dreadful. We also found we got mosquito bites during the night. There was a coffee maker(see picture) that looks like it hasn’t been cleaned this year! The air con was good though. There is s pool purely for this block, we only saw it cleaned once during the stay and lots of areas did not look great. It’s surrounded by decking boards, unfortunately many are in need of replacement and felt like they could give way. The steps out are also very unsteady. 
The main hotel reception looks great but had very little to do in. The bar is poolside and the seating areas are dirty. The pool here was also not clean and the splash boards between pool and seating were very dirty. The food was ok, plenty of choice but although we were half board we decided to eat elsewhere most of the time. We also went to other pools during the day as could not sit in areas that were not clean. 
It’s a shame, the hotel has potential but needs a much better cleaning regime and maintenance, especially in communal outside areas. Also need to provide better connection between main hotel and executive block. 

Could be a lot better

Arrived on 08/09/23. Given a room that had not been cleaned. Toothpaste and makeup all over bathroom. Bed was not made. Bathroom door doesn’t close and shower doors off the hinges leant against the wall. Also Ants running around everywhere. After complaining daily nothing was dealt with. And room was never cleaned and never given new towels. Rooms very outdated. No storage anywhere.

Stayed in the so called executive wing,never again,room very grubby linen old and stained,shower glass dirty,private pool and surrounding area unkempt no maintenance at all,dirty cups by drinks machine left for the 12 days we were there,grass about 3 feet high growing up through the rotting decking bottles and cans laying about the pool bins not emptied on a regular basis,restaurant we used once tables not wiped between sittings,outside areas very shoddy,tried to get transferred but every ware was full,we booked through Jet2,
