A wonderful small apartment block set in established tropical-style gardens with a beautifully clean pool. This family run place was established over 20 years ago, and everything is well thought out and smooth-running. Quiet and comfortable with beautiful linens and daily cleaning. Well equipped kitchenette and bathroom. Balcony with sea view, and beach just yards away from the pool. And all immaculately clean. A very friendly welcome from the team, and an excellent taverna just next door. Not much to do nearby, but that's just what we wanted. Recommended for total peace and relaxation. 

Total Rest and Relaxation with Pool and Beach

These are just the sort of apartments we always are looking for. 
Simple but yet comfortable, typically Cretan, very nice interior,good beds and good bathroom. enough space for 2persons. Balcony at the front and at the back.
Clean and kept clean every day. Everything is simply OK.
The position is wonderful. A very beautiful garden well maintained, very good swimming pool, with nice sunbeds and some tables and chairs, very lovely.
Also the beach and the sea just in front of the garden entrance, a nice sandy beach and a lovely sea overlooking the entrance of Souda bay. Brilliant.
Bonus is the nice All My bar/taverna next door We enjoyed the drinks and food. 
And as many times before we experienced the typical Cretan hospitality also overhere.

We will keep this accommodation for sure in our minds as a start or finish for a next "tour de Crete"

Beautiful 4 nights to finish our "Tour de Crete"

Let me start by saying this was a quick ad hoc break. We usual choose Plakias but unfortunately could not find our usual haunts available. Arrived over an hour and a half late, thanks again Ryanair, but used our faithful Europecar who were still sat waiting for us. The drive is about 30 mins from Chania airport and apartments straight forward to find. Arriving on a Sunday the little road in front of the complex was chaos, it seems everybody uses this part of the beach on the weekend. Fair enough, I would if i lived here. 
We researched the apartments and were impressed by its reviews. 
Once parked (small grassland next to complex) found a note on a window with name, apartment number and ‘key is in door’ left for us. Luckily we were in apartment 9 upstairs. Apartment opens to the bedroom which is ok but the size and layout is not ideal. Bed close to wardrobe, 1 shared lamp and light switches, plugs out of the way. Bathroom is directly attached, again, small with poor lighting.
WiFi. I read in a review that it was good. It’s not.. I try to stay away from any work emails or noise, but, when you can’t even sync a Kindle you know your in trouble.
The living / kitchen area is good with a nice balcony offering good view. Neighbours are close, some overlooked and adjacent apartments overlooking you. 
Facilities in kitchen basic, with the essential corkscrew broken! We eat out but many others seemed to take lunch in their room.
So coming to my main gripe, there are 12 apartments. Therefore a possible minimum of 24 guests, yet 8 sun beds around the pool? Yes you can get your own and place them anywhere on the lawn, that is if the sprinklers are not on! The 8 sun beds are static and are permanently in shade under the well maintained trees. 
4 people at most in the pool at once, after that it’s full. So, beach it was....
The beach, is a beach. Sun beds can be used but to say there is little or no personal space is an understatement. I personally like some piece, if you do, grab a subbed from the complex and walk 200mtrs the other way! There’s no umbrella but you won’t have to listen to people moan or compete to who has the most annoying music playing from their phone! Somebody should invent some ear things so individuals can enjoy their own noise!
So winge over...not quite. Restaurants- well 5 really. Red Pepper, take a book, order wine... they did not have chicken or pork in stock when we went. Others- overpriced and average at best....
Would I recommend it here? Not really, not for the price. Having been to Crete on 15 occasions i would not come back to the area. Kalyves is overcrowded, Almyrida seems to have overbuilt on a what can only be described as a slither of sand.
We will be back, but to real Crete not the cattle markets these have become.

It’s only my opinion...

Superb accommodation where you are right on the beach. Step out of your apartment and walk 30 seconds to a quiet beach at the East part of the village. This end of the beach is always quiet and has a lovely taverna right on the beach as well where you can hire sun beds. If you take a walk further up the beach east away from Kalyves there are 2 or 3 more taverna's as well. 

The accomodation is clean, with a comfy bed and proper shower (not hand held). The pool is perfect and never busy. 

It's about a 20 minute walk into the centre of Kalyves but its a nice steady walk to do. You can also borrow bikes for free from the owner as well to use whenever you like. 

Overall, a great accommodation for the price.

Fantastic location for the beach!

Lovely place to stay with all you need to self cater. Comfortable beds and sunny terraces set in an attractive garden with a pool. Two minutes form the beach and supermarket less than five minutes away. Quiet and peaceful. A lovely cat comes to befriend. 

Lovely appartment 

Karolina apartments are owned and run by Janet and Brian. They are wonderful hosts. Always ready to offer help and advice. 
Our apartment on the second floor was clean & comfortable.Sheets & towels changed every couple of days.We had a beautiful view of the sea and Kalives village from the balcony. We also had our own garden complete with lemon tree! Sunbeds, umbrellas etc are available. It's just 5 mins to the beach down a rough track ( Uphill coming back) but it's very pretty. Definitely recommend these apartments.
