Zen Hotel

Planned a trip to Athens and wanted to stay near the beach, but within easy reach of central Athens and its attractions. Did a bit of research, and despite some negatives on here, decided to go with Zen. Having stayed here it ticked all the boxes for many reasons, hence a fairly lengthy review. Starting with the hotel location, not in the most salubrious of streets, but dont let that put you off. To the end of the road a couple of hundred yards are the private and public beaches. So for me, perfect location! The hotel itself is a small hotel, which is spotlessly clean. The room was cleaned every day, with fresh bedding and towels every day as well. The receptionists, of which there are a few, were all delightful and helpful in their differing ways, though for some there was a slight language barrier, which is where google translate came in handy! However, the young man who was on late most evenings was quite superb. Overall you were left feeling they genuinely wanted you to enjoy your stay. To the end of the street, as already said the beach, and also bus stop. Turn left and a few hundred yards down the road, kiosk, and also two places worthy of mention. Trelos Gaidaros ( Crazy Donkey) great charcoal grill place, AMAZING value! Having paid over a hundred and fify euros for a meal at one of the private beaches, the 20 euros this place charged was a refreshing change! Also good little coffee place "Gregorys" though doesnt look like that in Greek, but you cant miss it, good frappe, coffees, snacks. Have done seperate reviews of the beach bars. My one piece of advice whilst staying here, download the " Beat" Taxi App. Longest we had to wait for a taxi was 2 mins, tracks your location, gives a pic of your driver, what you will be charged. Zen into central Athens ie Acropolis 9 euros. Zen to airport was 21 euros. So back to the Zen, £350 euros for a seven day stay and all of the above, one word, excellent.
