After a long ride from the Netherlands we were disappointed in the location of this B&B. It’s up a very steep and narrow cobblestone street. We were instructed to initially park across the road on a surface not conducive to laden motorcycles. Thankfully we were helped to hold the bike upright by a lovely Dutch couple who happened to be passing. Our rooms were up three flights of narrow stairs....again not conducive to bikers in boots and carrying luggage.  The bedroom was basic without an en-suite bathroom tho at least we didn’t have to share it! The breakfast was sufficient....but like I said,”This B&B not suitable for Bikers!”

Not for Motorcyclists!

While this is not a very modern guest house, it certainly has that old-world charm that you really want when experiencing another country. The host is super friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is a delicious selection of German meats, cheeses, fruits, etc.

Our room was very high up, meaning that we had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to and from our room, which was not ideal, but the host helped us with our bags.

The furnished balcony had a nice view of a courtyard and some view of the river and valley (and a nice church tower).

The best part of this accommodation is its location - this was the perfect basis for not only exploring the town, but also for getting to the castle. Excellent.

Really the only drawback is the lack of mini-fridge and kettle in the room.

Charming lodgings with a friendly host

Frau Pellny was kind and gracious. It was a little difficult to find, but drive up Zollstrasse to Schlosstrasse like you own the place and you will be fine. Room was spotless and a wonderful buffet breakfast, all for 30Euros/day per person. Wifi and parking additional, but reasonable. 

Clean, tidy and great location in the old town 

I think we must have stayed in a different place compared to the other reviews on this site.  We didn't stay in the building where breakfast was served, but across the street in Pension Andreas.  As soon as we entered the building wewere  hit with the smell of musty/moldiness mixed with chemicals.  The stairs were very narrow and steep.  As I have arthritic knees, this was very awkward.  The hostess was concerned about my 14 year old son sharing a room with me and wanted him to have a room to himself, which he would not have felt at all comfortable with as it was a small, gloomy, old building.  My 18 year old daughter had a single room on the second floor and the bedlinen was like sandpaper.  We had to put a blanket from the sofa in our room under her bedlinen and also use some of the cushions, otherwise it would have been a very uncomfortable sleep for her.  The wifi was good and also the breakfast was very substantial although the room was very small. Everywhere was very clean, it was just the smell and the old bedlinen that was awful.

Not what we were expecting

All in all this was a good experience.  I was traveling alone and wanted a place to stay in Cochem for a couple of days.  I booked a double room so I would have a little extra room.  The room was bare bones with a bed, a little table and not much else.  The bathroom was adequate, but bring your own toiletries.  There was hand soap in the sink, but nothing in the shower - no soap, shampoo etc.  As I had forgotten to bring any of those, I ended up using the hand soap from the sink as my soap in the shower.  The bed was quite comfortable.  FRI morning the school kids were just outside the window and very noisy early in the morning.  Ask for a room off the street.  SAT morning it was very quiet.  The lady who runs the place is so very nice.  She served breakfast in the breakfast room (a good place for it)  and it was very good with many choices.  The place is also just a few short steps into the main square and a couple of minutes walk to the river.  Great location. The wifi was not very strong, but that was not a big issue.  I would go back.

Nothing fancy, but fit my needs

We ended up arriving really late to hotel, around 10 pm due to train delay.  The owner stayed late so we could get into our room. The room was quaint and traditional.  Very nice. The breakfast was traditional German  which was delicious. She gave us tips of things to see in Cochem, although we already had plans, we did do a few of her suggestions. She was so sweet, and even drove us to train the next day with our luggage.
