Françoise the Owner is very nice and welcoming and always make us feel at home. The rooms have been ungraded since we first visited and are quite satisfactory. Some at the back have balconies overlooking gardens. Breakfast is always served, but sometimes the Restaurant is closed due to the French Holidays.

We have stayed at Le Carpinien 12 times since 2004

This  is the only Hotel in Charmes .
even though  basic  but  comfortable enough to spend a couple  of days  in a business trip .

I found very friendly the staff who made all to make sure  I was   happy enough  and  all places  were very tidy  and clean.
Small  city with  a small hotel .. and nothing to  attract you  except the  beauty  of the local

Basic  but nice

The only hotel in Charmes. Our room #12 on the second floor overlooked the back gardens of the adjoining properties, providing a nice outlook in the setting sun. Room had two good sized comfortable beds, large bathroom (for France) with full sized bath, and a separate WC. Hotel was neat and clean with its 30 year old decor and decaying exterior. The plumbing is a bit noisy so take your earplugs. Lounge with tea/coffee making facilities is located on 1st floor. The restaurant was closed being a Monday, despite the advertising to the contrary. There is a supermarket nearby, so we had our aperitifs and a picnic dinner on the back terrace. The hotel patron has certainly not fully understood the name of her town, because you would certainly not meet a more charmless host. I think she is in the wrong business!

Walking GR5 from Spa, Belgium to Nice, France

Very basic accommodation, everything you need is there but doesn't really make you feel comfy. The lady at the front desk was nice and friendly. We didn't have breakfast there, but I recommend to do that because we walked around and did not find any cafés around! There were only boulangeries but no place to sit and enjoy. The down side of this hotel is it's location on the main street as it could get really noisy. The windows are as thin as if you would be sleeping outside. In my opinion the rates are too expensive for so basic hotel in such a small town.
