Polar Star Origo Apartments

There are some badly titled reviews on trip advisor labelled 'Polar star' however there seems to be more than one localtion with this name. This review is for Polar Star Origo Apartment 4, next to the tourist office, directly opposite K5 Hotel. We had an excellent stay in this apartment in Dec 2024. On arrival, the room had not been cleaned, but a call to the duty manager revealed this had been a genuine oversight and there was someone there to start cleaning within 10 minutes. We just popped out to explore for an hour while they sorted it all out. The apartment is spacious with two full bathrooms and a sauna. There is one bedroom downstairs and then a sleeping loft which had a double and 4 single beds. The kids loved sleeping up there and peeking through thier triangular window at the snow! We had ordered sheets and towels and a bag of firewood at an extra cost before arrival. The beds were a little old but perfectly comfortable. The pillows were certainly not british standard (they were more square and very soft) but since there were only 4 of us staying we had our pick from all the beds and we were so exhusted after our action packed days in the snow we all slept really well. The kitchen was well equiped and we cooked in a couple of times and had breakfast and lunches there. Sofas were comfy and big and the apartment was very cozy and warm all the time. Also the drying closet by the door was a god send for drying wet snoods, hats and gloves each day. My constructive critisisms would be: More detailed instructions for the washing machine and dishwasher would help - the symbols are very different to what we are used to, so a key for what each symbol means would be really helpful! We found the Polar Star staff really friendly and helpful. They found two sledges for our boys in thier maintenance room and brought them up to our apartment on our second day, which was so kind. We popped into the main office (next to the pancake house) to ask about luggage storage for our last day and they organised for us to keep the apartment for an extra few hours so we did not have to pay for storage of our cases. The apartments are in such a great location, 5 minutes walk from Zero Point, so far enough away from the hustle and bustle but not too far for little legs to walk. The restaurant next door 'Myllyn Aija' has excellent food and service and the K5 Hotel oppoiste has a lovely relaxed bar and the ability to feed the reindeer behind the hotel which we really enjoyed.
